so they gained access to the twitter of a couple of the most powerful people in the world... to run an obvious bitcoin scam??? what?

Yes and they made $100K

Check the blockchain links I provided. They've moved around over 20 billion usd in Bitcoin. One of the 20b accounts may have been used for routing though.

I mean there are a lot of dumb people out there but most that dumb wouldn't know how to send bitcoin, I wonder if this was cover for some larger scam.

Larger scam indeed or just a warning shot? Or perhaps the hacker got too spooked and dropped the ball at the last minute? Imagine the potential if they found a way without Twitter knowing? I suppose whoever it was had ethics and decided to shine the light on the situation rather than start a revolution or something like that! Who knows?.. I just hope it was his bitcoin wallet.. Great way to make some money by using people who have gained financially through us.. I bet techsupport over at Twitter has been escalated to overtime to iron out who and how this could have happened?.. Late night I bet... But I agree.. Wish they could have just destroyed Twitter.

Israel. Guaranteed.

Yeah, this is dumb as fuck. If they manage to get into those accounts they must have some k ow how, then they use a copy paste Indian scam level thing with bitcoin? Seriously the dumbest fucking criminal hackers on earth.

They most likely used the Bitcoin scam as a smokescreen, it's a bit suspicious that it would 'only' be that.

The Winklevoss twins openly stated that their twitter account was hacked inspite of having a strong password and 2 factor authentication system. I think this is an internal hack, not an external hack, more due to the fact that all those big accounts were cracked pretty easily without any notification to their owners.

Yeah this seems like a pro job. No way you'd be able to gain access to all of those accounts through conventional methods without raising flags.

Twitter itself was never focused on security so idk. Once before they literally had been breached and all the passwords were in plaintext, none hashed.

Well, from the article: >>On Wednesday evening, the company revealed that its own internal employee tools were compromised and used in the hack, which may explain why even accounts that claimed to have two-factor authentication were still attempting to fool followers with the Bitcoin scam. It doesn't necessarily need to be an internal hack, just someone at the company who opened a dumb email or gave out their password.

I would donate $1,000 to anyone that could permanently shut down twitter.

I would give you $1,000 to give someone $1,000 who could permanently shut down twitter

Man I wish they just destroyed Twitter instead.

wow! I'm going to have to believe you on this one as the block chain links don't make sense to me. Never did like twitter. I looked it up and Obama has more followers than Trump. I feel like that would get on his nerves.

Anything that's bad on Twitter gives me goosebumps. I read that like lonely moms read 50 Shades. Thanks for sharing!

The Day Of The Checkmark has come

Any word on how they did it?

No but Twitter was rolling out a new API tonight. Seems like a big coincidence.

How is this even possible?! Unless twitter had a master password or something

Remember how a week or two ago Twitter said they would be going through their source code so they could change variable names to more "inclusive" words? A horrible idea from the start. I'm thinking they either introduced a huge hole in their security or gave root access to one too many diversity hires.
