I heard good DIY tip for people who want to stop alexa spying on you without buying anything a while back.
Step 1: unplug the alexa
Step 2: open the trashcan (or garbage bin if outside the US)
Step 3: place the alexa inside the trashcan (or garbage bin)
It worked well for me, but an even better tip (that can save you some money) is to not buy an alexa in the first place, then you can skip steps 1-3.
How about not owning an Amazon Echo?
>Amazon Echos ordinarily record and save all audio that they hear in your house, effectively wiretapping your home 24/7
Is it true? I remember having read an article about 2 years ago that showed that the main chip was only activated after a smaller ship that only detected when people said "Alexa". And it was like independent reverse engineering.
Yes. In any device with an assistant, at least, produced in the west, voice recordings are first checked against a secure enclave. Once confirmed, the recording is sent to the server for processing. Most people don't know that.
