Heck, the FSF needs its Richard Stallman. I know he's a bit abrasive and tone deaf, but the FSF has done dick all since he was kicked out. [This is the clear red signal if ever you needed one that Google is firmly anti-freedom when it comes to software](https://opensource.google/docs/using/agpl-policy/). Apple is even worse. Richard Stallman went further than just not using Android. He didn't even own a cell phone at all, so far as I can remember. To get a Richard Stallman for the Android generation, you'd have to have someone attacking things right from the lowest levels of cellular communication, I think. It's not just Android. It's Broadcom and Huawei and Nokia. We need free ways just to connect with the infrastructure. See all the problems the PinePhone people had getting going to the point of making a phone call.
