The satellite space is going to crowded in the next few years between this and SpaceX That said I'm definitely looking forward to having more internet options available. Affordable internet available world wide could definitely bring down prices which suck in areas with only 1 or 2 ISP's. I mean satellite internet IS already available but it's not great and expensive.

Crowded satellite space wouldn't be a problem if major telco monopolies like Verizon and Comcast didn't intimidate independent startup ISPs by lobbying local governments to excessively charge and/or deny construction permits to bury fiber

Thankfully startups sometimes squirm through anyway. Joink in Terre Haute for example. Local fiber isp. Business only rn but plans for residential

I use satellite internet every day. I also look to see if I am being pointed at youtube. If so I don't go. Satellite internet sucks.

I'm happy to see another entry into the market to increase competition but I'd be just as skeptical of this as Google fiber.

Claim is that about half the the fiber in the ground is currently dark. So, who knows?
