A combination of not wanting people to ever delete it and terrible design, as some windows components depend on the built in web browser to function. It's why they kept internet explorer around forever despite the new (well, now the old) edge being a thing.
I use Edge only as a PDF reader, and only a few times.
I don't like these MS policies, fortunately at least for the moment you can still skip certain things.
Get rid of chrome, take the edgepill. It's basically the exact same thing. I'd say go for firefox as they are the only truly "open source" option but mozilla recently backtracked. Also, they are knee deep in social justice bullshit.
I really loved mozzilla, no idea why they and half the opensource community decided to drag politics and bullshit into the technology field like they did.
Yep. I uninstalled it from my personal PC and all my work servers I manage. Also sent Mozilla a nasty, respectful message telling them to piss off, and not to bring politics into their tech.
>Also, they are knee deep in social justice bullshit.
True but ironic how you are recommending a Microsoft browser after saying this. Look up Microsoft Pride.
>Yet the strategy with Edge is clear. Microsoft wants to expand market share in a hurry. It wants a big bite of Chrome, which is now known to be a slow memory hog. It also wants to decimate the very good people at Firefox.
uhm, Microsoft's new Edge browser is based on Chrome, it doesn't decrease Chrome's market share if people switch to edge, just like it doesn't decrease Chrome's market share if you use Brave you're still using a Chrome derivative powered by Google's Chromium.
This is just like IE. The system requires some kind of browser to be installed. You really don't *have* to use Edge you know. Might as well use Brave and Firefox, and remove all shortcuts to Edge. It would be similar to complaining that notepad.exe is preinstalled while you prefer vim.
