2010-2020 was the era of the smartphone and social media imo.

Free market responds with decentralized technologies

The problem is making the anti-censorship technology easy to use and widespread, and if it gets to that point the government will ban it under some pretext like child porn.

More automation taking over menial jobs. Maybe automated truckers or something.
2
Tesla's working on something like that. Sort of.

I would fully support automation completely taking over fast food. Fast food in my area has largely gone from first jobs for high schoolers to jobs that are entirely occupied by adult illegal aliens.

I read automation was most likely to replace middle managerial positions

interesting, that does make sense tbh

Tinder fucked up society and the whole meta of mainstream dating. No real society wide understanding of its negative affects have been talked about due to feminism protecting any criticism targetted at women and their ability to have no strings sex.

40% of men still want a traditional marriage, they're fighting over 20% of women who want that only 10% of whom are attractive to men. I agree, things are going to get tribal.

Censorship, surveillance, war on armaments (from firearms to encryption. Yes, encryption is a weapon. See: the US govt's freakout when PGP was published online), and authoritarianism.

General super-intelligent AI for sure, the predictions are we'll reach singularity by 2025 https://artificialintelligence-news.com/2020/07/28/musk-predicts-ai-superior-humans-five-years/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Predictions_made_by_Ray_Kurzweil https://emerj.com/ai-future-outlook/when-will-we-reach-the-singularity-a-timeline-consensus-from-ai-researchers/
Also renewable and cheaper space travel, price for kilogram to orbit should drop from $50k to around $300 (thanks to Starship). Also thanks to Starship, humans should get to Mars by 2030

> by 2025 hmmm

even Kurtzweil said like 2040 right?

That guy has been way too optimistic on everything. He’s got like 2 sort of right predictions, out of hundreds.

smartphones + social media being used to watch people even more

Space travel SpaceX Starship and Superheavy is set to be relatively complete by mid 2021, possibly earlier at this rate.

Not necessarily **the** technology, but one that I think will start having a much larger impact: +QuantumComputing
1
It's still far too limited in what types of computations it can perform
2
What do you mean? A quantum computer can (in theory) be used for everything a classical computer can. Granted, currently noise makes that not very useful, but they aren't limited in the types of computations they can perform

Augmented Reality. Also, my new project: Glimmer DSL for Opal. Code in Ruby for the web as if you’re building a simple desktop GUI app. What’s not to catch fire in that? https://github.com/AndyObtiva/glimmer-dsl-opal

that's a hell of a readme

Some big telescopes going into space next decade, who knows what we'll find. Planets with atmouspheres that could only exist from the existence of life is one possibility.

I think automation, deep learning&AI, electric vehicles didn't make an impact on the industry and our lives fully yet. Only thing I can think of is definetely Social Media. It changed a lot of things . I remember the 2010 and 2020, social media caused LOTS of stuff.

I believe that the 2020s will be defined by AI and the advent of alternate social media. The internet will become more and more divided. Take places like Parler rising in popularity. I fear by the end of the decade there will be legitimate factions online.... Oh and I think that the reign of x86 will prob diminish with ARM taking over more of computing.
