I like the UI overall (latest release) though the start menu and management functionality needs to be consistent instead of mixed between new and legacy (eg control panel). They should have done all this from day one with windows 10

The design system they've implemented in Office is pretty fucking good imo. I'm looking forward to seeing these changes (hopefully no overbearing tile usage).

I do too. They need to once and for all purge the legacy UI. It is far enough along that it should be feasible. And they need to provide different options for the UI if in a touch or tablet mode that are better than now

Yeah but some of the new UI removed functionality, which hopefully will be there if they remove the control panel. My biggest issue with the new UX is how "clunky" things feel with it, mainly due to it being considerate of touch interfaces. This costs a lot of screen real estate. Then for whatever reason, you cannot have more than one Settings window running at a time (currently), meaning if you need to change something but reference somewhere else in the Settings app, you're doing a lot of jumping around.

it isn't all consolidated yet and that is a huge gripe. either stick to the legacy control panel model or new but stop the hybrid. its like that at the enterprise level as well though its getting better

Office has such a sexy interface. First time I saw it I was genuinely surprised. I just assumed they would screw it up somehow haha but UI design for me has been kind of hit-or-miss recently imo. everyone keeps copying Google's material design fad, which I'm not very fond of i hope Microsoft treads their own ground

Only use Windows for gaming now, and I'm planning on ditching it altogether for Linux + proton in the near future.

Same. Latest update messed up my network card AGAIN so not even steam gaming anymore before I *completely re-install Windows*. When I get to the point where I'm annoyed enough to reformat, I'll probably go the linux gaming route.

I'm kind of cynical. Google's "UI improvements" literally made me stop using many of their products, I hated them that much. Hopefully Microsoft doesn't butcher my PC's operating system. Because I actually like the aesthetic design of Windows 10 already.

pretty sure MS's will be evolutionary at this point instead of revolutionary. They are pretty conservative and slow moving here. they talk a bunch of shit about it and then do not deliver (e.g. tabs in windows explorer for example)

Oh good, more Idiocracy shit that no one wants but will simply accept without question or even complaint because they’re all brainwashed puppets.

Very interesting! I am most interested in what they do with file explorer cause that has been the same for so long now essentially.

Fuck...as a support worker, I'd rather deal with a less good user interface that stays consistent year to year than with a perfect one.
