I'm pretty sure the plot of The Matrix specifically demonstrates why this is a bad idea.

Sci-tech daily, like most science 'journalism' today is absolute garbage. It's a neat technology, but it is nowhere near what the article title makes it out to be, and it's impractical on many levels. 1) The substrate is made from silver nano-wires, which means that it will be expensive as hell with no theoretical way to reduce that cost. 2) The amount of power is miniscule. 7 microwatts per cm² when used on human skin. That means a solar calculator that uses .01 watts of power would need over 1400 cm² of the material to run it. Which means basically your entire torso would need to be covered to power the same thing that runs on a 3 cm² solar cell, inside an office.
