But wait, I thought they were just a platform, not editorializing?

This is a separate product.

I'd guess metadata be be shared, of course, between the two.

Substack can simply exist as the revue that is content neutral

True, https://techcrunch.com/2020/12/22/substack-explains-its-hands-off-approach-to-content-moderation/ >In most cases, we don’t think that censoring content is helpful, and in fact it often backfires. Heavy-handed censorship can draw more attention to content than it otherwise would have enjoyed, and at the same time it can give the content creators a martyr complex that they can trade off for future gain. We prefer a contest of ideas. We believe dissent and debate is important. We celebrate nonconformity.

talk is cheap. CEOs change, as do other staff. Put all of your eggs in one basket and you'll pay for it.

I am very happy with Substack's hands-off approach to moderation, but it won't last forever. As soon as line up for an IPO or purchase, I expect things to change. Fortunately something like Substack should be easy to recreate, and the network effects don't really matter that much (it's more about the individual authors). I'd love to see a Substack clone on IPFS or one of those blockchain platforms like LBRY.

so, once again, no monopoly laws or anti-trust laws enforced. And, we pay taxes WHY????? So that gov't won't do what they are supposed to?!
