I'm a regular donator myself but I'm done starting now that they're (more) ideologically compromised. Luckily you can download the entire website as-is and it's surprisingly light on the HDD. Someone should make a clone of the site as-is and allow for more open discussion.
According to this (https://www.howtogeek.com/260023/how-to-download-wikipedia-for-offline-at-your-fingertips-reading/) it's only 150GB for the entire thing, pictures and all. The best time to download this would have been some time in the months before they memoryholed Ellen Page being a woman, the second best time would be now; despite its faults, a still shot of it frozen in time will remain an exceptional resource on a wide variety of subjects long into the future, and hopefully some enterprising individual will create an alternative someday.
Seems like roughly a 10 hour download, to take up 50% of all the space I've got left. I think I'll have to wait until later, and pick up an older dump from the Internet Archive.
Well.
Wikipedia is dead.
Might as well show me a 404. Because if you cant be an accurate collection of personal experiences and educations, you are literally nothing, wikipedia.
Ill get news faster on twitter, and more links on facebook.
By bypassing the scientific method, wiki offers nothing that me Bob, cant offer you
You want answers? Truth irrelevant to you?
Hit me up on discord, ill be your wiki.
Its definitely not empty... but the website (more precisely the home page) is not optimized for mobile devices... someone needs to create infogalactic app..
