Has anybody used Dissenter browser? It's based on Brave. 📦

Curious to know - I use Brave, and wondering the pros/cons from people who may have tried them both.

I like the guys behind Dissenter (Gab). I was disappointed to hear they stripped out the BAT functionality though. BAT creates a market for advertising that cuts in publishers and their consumers. It’s a model that, if adopted, cuts the social media cancel culture off at the knees. since these information tech companies are all competing for ad revenue, they do the bidding of whatever advertisers don’t want their products next to “hate speech”

Further proof that crypto is the way of the future.

I don't think they are able to really maintain it. I would just use Brave.

Brave is another great one

It's a security nightmare since it's not being maintained. Do not use.

The dissenter browser is not being updated or maintained: Dissenter : Version 1.5.114 **Chromium: 80.0.3987.149** (Official Build) (64-bit) Brave: Version 1.19.92 **Chromium: 88.0.4324.152** (Official Build) (64-bit) The dissenter plugin is also not necessary to post things to dissenter.com. All you need is a little javascript. https://ruqqus.com/+Censorship/post/7f9i/update-how-to-use-dissenter-without

Better use Brave browser. Check out this [post](https://ruqqus.com/+Technology/post/7ai3/if-you-use-gabs-dissenter-browser) of mine why one should not use dissenter browser due to the security reasons.

They base it off of brave now? that's kinda cool, I remember when it was just a chromium clone with their addon.

Brave is fantastic but I don't know if I'd trust Gab to maintain a browser. It's hard work pushing out security updates everyday.

I couldnt sign in

Same, the dissenter plug-in is what I was interested in

I dont think they are supporting it, shame it seemed really cool

Aether is an alright alternative but no picture support. Limited meme potential

I would support an app like that but it has to be good, pix, gifs, stickers, and anti cancel.

https://twetch.app/ block-chain based.

as far as I know Mozzilla and chrome murdered that plug-in, mine no longer works on firefox even though I barely use firefox as they are hardcore communist now. started using librewolf, all the goodness of firefox, but none of their stupidity.

It still works for me on chrome, though I had to install it in developer mode, since they removed it from their plugin store.

Try vivaldi browser - the new feature tab stacks on multiple lines is a game change for tab junkies - so easy to organise them now. See "two level tab stacks" https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tabs/tab-stacks/ No going back to any other browser for me now

i use it exclusively on my computer. it works as good as chrome, and you can use chrome extensions on it. one con is that it doesnt have any mobile browser or bookmark syncing. another con is that either it doesnt run flash, or maybe i just have my configuration fucked, either way copy paste the link into real chrome and you can run whatever flash games you were trying to play.

Flash stopped being supported in 2020 they most likely didn't build in the compatibility due to this.
2
mine wasnt working before that. im not broken up about it, its literally just for the occasional flash game

neat, ill check it out, thanks ive read that the Supernova plugin will also make flash work, but i havent messed with it yet since its literally 0 effort to just open flash in chrome https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/supernova-swf-enabler/mhmphnocemakkjdampibehejoaleebpo?hl=en

I find that the people behind Gab/Dissenter really aren't that good at building tech. They just happen to provide a service that is in demand right now. If you want a search engine, I recommend using Brave with the DuckDuckGo search bar installed.

Seems a bit overkill for what's essentially just the Brave browser with a Dissenter extension. I'll stick to Firefox.

We need more than deplatforming

This is actually really cool to hear about. Definitely going to give this a try.

I've been using it for the last few weeks. I love it, faster than Chrome too. You can import your bookmarks!
1
I tried it, but I can't even use Winsplit to move windows around with it, so I ditched it. Shame.

Gab needs to get their finance straight. They are in a position to take over different areas

Switched to brave. Imported bookmarks and passwords. Looks and feels the same.

If it's anything like Brave and does not provide the option to override SSL certificate warnings then it's unusable for me. [Rant here](https://ruqqus.com/+BraveBrowser/post/7kt8/brave-browser-and-a-custom-ssl).

I firmly believe gab is a honey pot
