Interesting. This article focuses mostly on Texas. One of the arguments to *why* Texas could secede is that its power grid is independent. Take that out of the equation and, well....

Their electric system was not designed for extreme weather like this since it's such a freak thing. In general, my understanding is that their electricity is normally quite stable.
