I mean... makes sense right? Before you had the illusion that you could have some semblance of privacy with the optout settings, now you have no privacy options at all.. so you aren't confused into thinking you do.

Pro tip don't link reddit to IRL at all . . . or any social media

It's always been like this. Near the beginning of the platform it's "We don't collect your data/Your privacy is important" Suckerberg, Spazzy, all 'protect the user' until they find out how much money they could be making. Soon as this place gets popular, I expect the same. Whether it's before or after Meta moves on, who knows? "Either you die a Hero, or live long enough to become the villain." Swartz didn't live to become a villain, but his partners did, and they tried to erase him from history.

I love the way the comments are discussing the best way to use Reddit and keep your privacy. Those two things are incongruous.

>I don't really like being blunt Why are all plebbitors so submissive and afraid of being confrontational?

The website is a natural magnet for submissive and hivemind types of people.

It's so censor-heavy, those are the only types of posts/comments that stay up.

A lot of people rely on virtual interactions for social fulfillment, especially in the covid world. Most websites have rules to restrict what you're allowed to say and people who are socially starved are willing to squelch their personalities in order to have a little social interaction. I was like this for a few years when having young children without friends who had young children was isolating. Reddit has nothing on censorship compared to some of the mommy boards out there.

The users were clearly confused, because they actually believed they had privacy rights on reddit. This should clear up that confusion.

Comments are hilarious with Reddit soys thinking admins give a flying fuck what they think about their changes. Anyone still on that site will obviously put up with *anything* so long as they can get their daily hit of shitty Reddit content.

I wonder if the response would've been better if they just straight up said "fuck you, no privacy"? Look at this absolute legend in the comments >I don't need Reddit this much. Fuck You This will be my last transmission.

If I had an account, I would've responded with "see you next week!"

You know it's really bad when the top comment pushing back on the change is from a powermod.

Are other Reddit apps like rif and slider safe? I mean they still send data to Reddit right? What's the difference

Less tracking.

Do they have an option to opt out of personal ads?

I don't know.

God I hope they kill old.reddit, so I can stop being drawn to that shithole.
