I guess free speech means something else now.

Constitution has always been written by Luciferians Nothing is new under the sun

Free to go be profane somewhere else. Can you post gay kiddie porn on ruqqus?

"free speech" only means for people he likes, I guess. Between this and the trainwreck that is MyStore, this guy is going downhill fast. He needs to focus on pillows and excel at that, rather than being sub-mediocre at multiple things.

It's not ideal, but it's also a straight list of things that are not allowed unlike most social media with vague rules that can be applied to anyone the owners of the site want to get rid of. Instead of "no 'hate speech'" which as we know anything can be 'hate speech" he just gives list of words or phrases that are not allowed. The only other company I know that comes close to this is Microsoft which at least gives examples of words/phrases that are allowed and even context.

That list will expand, I guarantee it.

look who's talking.

I'll wish him luck with it all and hope it succeeds, but I'm not holding my breath. The pillow is decent but not amazing. And I kinda feel like he's just riding the wave of fame he got for being an outspoken trump supporter. It'll crest and break eventually

As a software engineer, it's my dream to build a site that only has to follow US law and fuck everything else. I wonder why no one has done this yet.

limited profitability probably

Definitely a big part of it. People need a reason to use the site, more than just "we're free speech."

god dammit, I am so sick of the Left and the Right squeezing me from both sides.

Yup. It's either "OMG my baby saw an uncensoed nipple!" or "OMG my baby heard a white guy say the n-word!"

We need an update!!! Ruqqus still on amazon hosting, that parler is banned of.... Bare mental servers we need!

We're still flying under the radar so it's fine for now.

Setting up infrastructure "from scratch" can be rather expensive and painful. Flying under-the-radar obviously will only go so far, but I understand why Ruqqus might not have made the move yet.

I'm ok with this, as long as normal, conversational content is allowed. It's much more important that everyone can voice their opinion and present information that other outlets are deeming to be false, misleading, controversial, etc..

Yeah the dudes an idiot. He can't call it a free speech site if he is going to ban something so simple that goes against his own views. Also has anyone seen what his site looks like right now. (In case it changes, its all broken html, and asking for your personal info). Also, if someone isn't willing to allow something so basic, what's saying won't ban other things later? Basically I'm sticking to ruqqus. The pillows are pretty good tho. He should stick to that.

Oh we got a badass here.

Where do I sign up?

Much as I like the sentiment that definitely isn’t free speech.

Why do we need more than gab?
1
Why not? More competition is a good thing in a capitalist society, and the more prominent alt services there are, the more likely someone might like one of them and move over to it.
1
Well all these alt tech companies are very small as they are and vulnerable. They have to be built up before more are necessary
1
That is true too. Still I won't discourage it.

No offense but I think this is a flop. He should stick to making an Amazon alternative.

It really free speech now is it?

"Free speech"

Tbf, the platform allows free speech, but it censors swear words, bad language, and taking the Lords name in vain. They ban the n word, f word, c word, and others, according to the article. It's not ideal, but it makes a lot more sense than an arbitrary limitation on speech. It's free speech, but more family friendly.
5
Instead of auto censoring, why not give the option to filter. Then it would be legit free speech and the limitations on free speech would be applied from the user instead of dictated by the site. That would be better imo since we all know any censoring just eventually grows into more censoring until you go full Reddit.

Christcommunism is antitheatical to the values of the USA

So that users that are under the age of 13 do not need to register in order to use the site without seeing profanity. There are laws against sites that collect data on those under the age of 13. I generally agree with you, but I think you can communicate your point without using profanity. It would be different if they banned the name Eric Ciaramella.

That's not free speech. That's censorship based on religious views instead of political views.
