So can someone clarify what the harm is in using this data (I don't actually understand)?
Also you have to be 13 to use it I think so that's adolescents/minors (I think the word "children" is a bit ambiguous, I think of like 5 year olds or something, unless they have 5 year olds on there)
I think the trouble is that if it is proven that tiktok knew how many kids under 13 were on the platform, and they did nothing, then they would have to be legally accountable.
that is understandable, although still I wonder what harm is done by using data
Of course I can appreciate the idea that people don't want their kids to be used just for "data" but it seems like selective outrage is data's being used everywhere (for good or ill)
The purpose of the law is that people under a certain age are less able to understand the consequences of the data they give up, and can therefore be exploited more easily then someone a bit older.
