> The bill itself provides $190 billion in spending. Most of that would go towards increased R&D at universities and similar institutions. Don't worry China, most of that will go into funding gender queer theory and zero new chip factories will be built in the US.

$190 Billion and more than half will go into union pockets.

I would guess about 50% will likely be lost to "waste" and re-appropriation. You can bet your bottom dollar that this won't make a significant impact in giving the US an edge. We've already lost we just don't realize it. The US isn't really capable of doing truely impressive things any more. You have to be acting in good faith and be of "one mind" to really achieve anything great.

The circle jerk bureaucracy and unions will be the down fall of the US. We're got to cut back the red tape. This is why infrastructure projects take 10+ years, go over budget, and typically have endless issues with the final product. US manufacturing needs to come back, and fast. Sadly, it will get a lot worse before people see what needs to be done.

I feel like it’s a “close the barn door after the horse has bolted” situation. While I would love for manufacturing to return, I don’t think it can. We made the terrible mistake of making China the world’s factory. Unless people are willing to pay waaaay more money for all their goods, it’s not going to work.

I agree, the cost of labor is too high and the cost of energy has been pushed up by Democrats for years. Our best bet would be to work toward a hybrid solution. Manufacturing in countries other than China while some stuff comes back to domestic factories.

> The bill passed with overwhelming support in the Senate at a 68-32 vote. So are the presumably 18 Republican Senators who voted for this RINO or otherwise big government? And what reasons did the other 32 have for voting no?

Will buying a chip made from a Chinese company mean having no ME? Will these chips work on any motherboard/PC and work fine with other PC components and software?
