Geothermal climate control systems are crazy efficient, but also extremely expensive and disruptive to install. New homes ought to install them, but installing on existing lots with less space is often not realistic.

This is what journalists often leave out when they hype stuff up like this and they clearly haven't done enough research, you've got to way up not just the cost of adding to the original infrastructure but the consistency and the wattage generated as well, I would border on putting this one in the click-bait category like that article that was ranting about using nuclear waste for batteries.

People don’t know this, but those towers with the big bulge in the air are to cool houses too. We could install 50 foot hallow towers with large bulbs in our homes and stay cool during the summer. It’s why there are every where is dessert nations. You can also heat your home with a corn feeder. It is very effective. The technology is not mass produced, and its not widely available. That’s just how it is. But to live very comfortably off grid you need geothermal, corn heat, a tower, and a few solar panels.
