Netflix bleeds subscribers in US and Canada, with no sign of recovery | Ars Technica

`SVOD` was never a viable product and we will continue to see consolidation in the industry as the bigger players try to delay their inevitable death. The truth is, despite the opinion of many in this community, `AVOD` is going to be the winner when the dust settles.

For many people like you and me, yes. But the average person isn't going to use torrents, therefore AVOD is going to be the winner.

Good. Fuck those pedo peddling losers. What's SVOD vs AVOD?

AVOD is the same thing with ads. Not sure why OP couldn't just type "ads" instead of using jargon.

`Subscription Video On Demand` & `Advertisment (supported) Video On Demand`

Right, the average Ruqqus user isn't going to be ok with it. I'm not either, but for the average person in the US and the world, AVOD will win out.

Sailing the seven seas for life.

Netflix cut too much content, and lost a lot because of a lot of new streaming services popping up

yeah when I saw this headline I was thinking something like Tubi might be causing some damage plus maybe less "disposable" (extra) income because of impact of covid restrictions

That there is another talking point. People in general are starting to get fed up with every company holding their hand out for $10/mo for a lack luster product.

> AVOD is going to be the winner when the dust settles. I don't think so. The flattening of subscribers isn't happening to Netflix rivals.

Because they're consolidating. SVOD isn't viable and therefore poor performers are being annexed into one giant non-viable product. It is just delaying their death. The general public is sick of paying out the ass for subscription services that in many cases still serve you ads to some degree. Might as well just take the ads and get the content for free.

Can't you just DVR that shit and skip the ads? Not sure what those things can do now, it's not a problem as I never see ads anyway between ad blockers and pirating.

I don't pay for cable. That is the real scam.
