I'm glad you also mentioned GIMP because that's the image editing program I use. It's great and free.

Takes some getting used to. I had some experience with photoshop for 10 years and then I started using Linux full time and even after a few years I'm not entirely used to GIMP.

Blender is an amazing program. It has no substitute. It is it's own thing.

Used affinity since it's initial release. Small learning curve coming from adobe but definitely my favorite alternative. SHOULD MENTION, one time lifetime purchase and they have releases for nearly all platforms
