A better, user-controlled Reddit alternative - DSCVR.

*DSCVR is a decentralized social content aggregation platform running on the Internet Computer blockchain where users control not only the content, but also the platform itself. It is similar to Reddit, if Reddit’s development were governed by the most dedicated members of its community through a tokenized framework. Currently in beta, DSCVR has amassed 14,000 users since it launched in June. DSCVR runs entirely on-chain on the Internet Computer, demonstrating the growth of blockchain-based social dapps that are accessible on the web.* *On today’s major social media platforms, critical decisions about their design and features are made arbitrarily and often without regard to users, leaving them feeling conflicted about the platform and their relationship to it. Users typically have no agency in determining how these platforms are composed, how user data is packaged and sold, and how matters that affect the product and the user experience are decided. This situation is characteristic of today’s social networks.* http://dscvr.one/ Now, if users from here migrate there, here is what we’re ***NOT*** going to do; 1. We will **not** be rude. 2. We will **not** spam racist content across the site. 3. We will **not** attempt to “redpill” other users by harassing them with controversial content. Here is what we ***WILL*** do; 1. Create our own subs to respectfully contain our racial and political content within our own communities. 2. Act like people instead of agendaposters. 2. Engage with and learn more about the technologies the platform is built on. 3. Respect the current userbase.

"Sign into Medium with Google" Really?

Mine asks me to create an account with "Identity Anchor" which is tied to my device hardware .... no fucking thank you.

It’s a cryptographic private key stored on the device so that only you can authenticate and access the web as yourself. You will be the only one with access to the key. Not to mention, you can create more than one and scrap old ones. It is literally as much privacy as you can get and the whole internet computer is decentralized.

Hmm interesting I need to read up on it more.

Sounds gay. Also, how the fuck does this work? It wants me to create a portal but when I give it a name it wants me to insert an identity key? What? I have no idea what this thing is doing or even asking for. I'm sure block chain is great---for people who are computer programmers. But until it becomes user friendly to those of us who are not, it's nothing more than another gatekeeper to access to the internet locking out us "inferior" beings who don't under the technology.

You have to create an internet identity with the internet computer. Also, all the information you need to learn is freely available. Nobody is locking you out. Learn. This is the future. Don’t be one of those old people who can’t use a computer. dfinity.org

So be worse than reddit from the get go, no thanks.

> if Reddit’s development were governed by the most dedicated members of its community Isn’t this part of the problem? The most dedicated users are paid shills/people with financial incentive to act a certain way, and usually this aligns with far-left incentives

You get the governance token through participation on site. Also, you can’t get paid shills due to the way the platform is designed.

Sounds gay.

AHA/Rdrama wants people off the platform so they can take back control.
All this is just google maps and zomato, It even tracks you where ever you go.
Absolute garbage.
It will do well as business will be there because its easy to promote as you know who is where and get . From their website
* Location aware - Content changes depending on where you are * Personalised - Delivers what you like to save you time
