Well, yes, but the majority of users will be oblivious to what AMP is beyond "it loads faster". I don't know, maybe I am a too big pessimist, but I fear people still don't care much about privacy/freedom until it affects them personally.
The incentives of the Internet are collapsing into a few megacorps. You are right, most people are completely ambivalent to it even when aware. Of those who care, most are numb and conditioned into acceptance. And the rest of us suffer their economies of scale all the same.

2. Performs Ministry-of-Truth thought-shaping, gatekeeping/filtering and propaganda-dissemination while posing as a "private search-engine".
3. Now with more "Memory-Holes®" to 'keep us safe'.
Google and its cousin FaCIAbook perform all these banana-republic functions at a fraction of the cost of creating a government department, which wouldn't work half as well.
