So it wanders the aisles looking for empty slots so that employees know what needs restocking. That way the item can be restocked sooner, since otherwise an alert might not be generated until the last few items are cashed out at the register (or not at all, in the case of theft.) Unfortunately it's only a matter of time before people start knocking them over (or stealing them) for shits and giggles.
