Apple wants your iPhone to replace your passport and driver's license | Appleinsider 📦

I'm not sure if I want an iPhone to hold the ONLY copy of my identification, but it would be nice to have an authorized copy, like with my credit cards in Apple Wallet

This is great, now you can keep your payments, communications, and travel documents all on one device. Then when they deplatform you or confiscate your device, you are completely cut off from society. Amazing idea.

Or if you get pulled over and a cop asks to see your driver's license. Depending on how it gets implemented, this could give them access to other contents on your phone

Forgot about this, great catch.

So perfect, if someone hacks my phone and steals it then I essentially lose more than just my phone, yeah no thanks

I don't know, it may seem like a good idea (provided it's not the *only* copy), but I am a bit uncomfortable giving tech giants so much power. They could exploit it at worst time. Just look at the Gab case, a perfectly legal company (bit controversial I guess, but still legal), yet being banned by app stores, addon stores, web hostings, mail services, banks, payment processors and even by a card issuer.

What's going on with Gab?

I used to use Gab, but after that anti-porn crusade on social media, I lost interest. Last thing I heard was they have a new UI and [visa banned them](https://news.gab.com/2020/06/26/social-credit-score-is-in-america-visa-blacklisted-my-business-and-my-family-for-building-gab/). I guess Torba is making too much noise, attracting too much attention. I am a bit worried if/when media starts smearing Ruqqus :/.

That’s a hard no for me. Please vote against anyone who supports this kind of proposal.

Each passing day I has me adopting pen and paper more and more. I'll need a shack in the woods soon.

Many times I’ve been in line boarding a flight when some guy in front of me is using his phone as his ticket, and it takes the gate agent several tries in order to get the scanner to pick up the barcode. I just can’t see that being done for any official documents right now, at least until there’s a standard that uses NFC instead of barcodes

I have mixed feelings about this. It would be convenient but it would make the phone that much more appealing to steal. At least when my stuff is separate, I don’t lose it all at one time. That would be a nightmare

Apple wants to be the only thing you carry around

It would never become the only copy though. No government would approve this. As for identity thieves, it seems to be a US problem mostly, are there other countries that do suffer from this?

Yeah no thanks, like you said maybe as a copy but not the only one
