Yeah, this is unfortunate to me. I know that Tik Tok is Chinese spyware, so I haven't downloaded it. I've told people I know that have it the same thing, but the idea that the United States has to decide for me what is safe and what isn't goes against my values, as it should for anyone else on here.
I hear where you're coming from but if it truly is a weapon china is using against American citizens then I have no problem with them banning some social media app. There's plenty out there that do the same thing.
When it comes to espionage, I draw the line. If they have evidence it's being used to spy on US citizens and other malicious intents, I agree on the ban. Same as Huawei.
People are dumb, especially when it comes to technology.
People are still clinging to Windows XP and Windows 7 even today, without realizing the security implications, as an example. Freedom of choice is definitely for the better, unless it comes to foreign interference.
