Seems counterintuitive. Do we know why it works?

The treatment programmed into the game was scientifically designed to challenge a child’s atention during treatment, requiring atention and focus on multiple tasks at the same time. === Similarly, there are bio-feedback (the clinical term) 'games' which attempt to do similar, but instead of a focus of strengthening physical parts of the brain through gameplay, bio-feedback monitors your brain activity and the games kinda progress on their own when you hit the sweet-spot of desired brainwaves VS non-desired brainwaves.
