Permanently banned from publicfreakout for arguing against racism

11    16 Nov 2023 20:11 by u/locutogram

Context: a video of teenagers ransacking a store and stealing things. Most of them appear to have dark skin and predictably people start talking about race. I chime in explaining it is about culture and has nothing to do with race. The first deleted comment you see is not mine. I only made the one comment. 10+ year account with (AFAIR) no history of bans on publicfreakout. I think other than this my only other bans in 10+ years are /Pyongyang and /thedonald, plus a 3 day ban in /Canada for saying both liberals and conservatives were morons. Dozens or hundreds of previous comments in publicfreakout over the years. Look at the message I got. Permanent ban, no appeal allowed, no replies allowed, any communication is considered "abuse". This mod is either terribly confused or malicious.

Where does that culture come from, do you think?

Same as any culture I would guess. It doesn't just appear and it isn't static, it is constantly evolving in the context of the environment it finds itself in. Why, what do you think?

>...it is constantly evolving in the context of the environment it finds itself in. This is the key right here, what kind of environment is this culture found in?
9
It is found primarily in America but also exported widely around the world. I have no idea what the purpose of your questioning is. Maybe you could just tell me instead of playing this game?
-3
Not geographic area, of course this is a phenomenon found all over the world. But what specific environment does this behavior seem to be most likely to be found in?
2
Poverty? Lower class? Kids that grow up in harsh enviroments? Kids that lack parental guidance due to these harsh enviroments and the effects it has on people that creates a continues downward cycle for multiple generations? Am i close?

Exactly! It's not about culture, it's about class dynamics. Blaming it on culture is what got you banned. The way you worded your comment makes it seem like you believe Black culture is a culture of criminality. I don't think that's what you intended but intent doesn't exactly matter to moderators; just the message that was conveyed.

It's oké, OP didnt notice by the looks of it :)
4
No I noticed and I agreed with you in another comment. I guess you didn't notice

Aan yes i must have overlooked that, when i know an answer to a question i tend to not keep asking someone to just give me the answer. But hey i'm weird like that..

I don't know. What's your theory? I would guess some mixture of: a free society, a multicultural society, a high-tech society, etc.. That seems to be the common denominator.
-4
Nope. Again, describing the type of society the encompasses all populations within, including parts of that society that doesn't engage in crime in the same way is not a description of the environment these activities happen in. There's a difference in neighborhoods that have high crime and low crime. What is it? You can do it!

I was trying to come up with common traits of societies where these subcultures exist. I think that last was fairly accurate on that basis. >There's a difference in neighborhoods that have high crime and low crime. What is it? You can do it! I would say lots of factors like culture, poverty, education, etc. And my comment that is the topic of this post was specifically about the culture part. For the 2nd time, I would suggest you just say what you think instead of playing this interrogation game. It's a really ineffective way to communicate.

> I would say lots of factors like culture, poverty, education, etc. One of these greatly affects the other two. >For the 2nd time, I would suggest you just say what you think instead of playing this interrogation game. It's a really ineffective way to communicate. Think of it like a game show. Except the prize is not being a racist instead of money.

I haven't done or said anything that would justify your accusation of racism. It's unfortunate you can't handle this disagreement without stooping that low. I hope things turn around for you and improve. Get well!

You've literally been banned from public freakout for racism and when given the chance to understand why, you engage in cognitive dissonance. I'm not the one who needs well wishes😂
7
Don't worry, I won't report you for breaking rule 5 of this sub. >You've literally been banned from public freakout Exactly, that is the point of this post - they were very clearly wrong to ban me for explicitly arguing against a racist theory. Can you produce any quote from my comment that is racist, or even a tenuous explanation of why anything I said could remotely be interpreted as racist? Anything? Did you even read it? P.S. Username most definitely does NOT check out
1
Your theory is the racist one, obviously. I've spent plenty of comments on this sub informing people their ban WAS justified. Go ahead and report me. The mods here aren't as uneducated as you are.

No evidence, no argument, just ad hominem and baseless assertions. Be better. For the sake of everyone around you. Be better.
1
You have no evidence for your culture accusations. I did reply with evidence for a different commenter. Why is every accusation by a reactionary actually a confession?😂 get over yourself.
7
My evidence is the study you linked, which completely reinforces my point and annihilates yours. I refuse to believe anyone can be as dumb and malicious as you are behaving here so I'll assume this is all a big troll and I shouldn't have fed you so long. Be way better than you are currently showing yourself to be. Please. Peace

Peace is for me, not oppressors like you.

Ok friend, have a wonderful day
1
I'm not your friend, buddy.
5
There you go, you said something that's almost civil! I can live with buddy. Adios!
1
No, it's reference. You're supposed to reply, I'm not your buddy, pal. Then I say; I'm not your pal, guy...etc. It's a Southpark reference😂
1
Really looks like you're dogwhistling racist claims here.

The same environment other immigrants found themself in. It not hard to look back 100 years and see photos of signs at restaurants that said “No dogs or asians allowed” but somehow the asians managed to become everyone’s landlord between now and then. It’s because they value respect for one’s elders, hard work, and academics. They don’t let their kids fuck around with other kids every day after school and get blackout drunk at parties on the weekend and what a shocker they turned out successful.

[Despite making more money and being more educated, second generation immigrants tend to be more in poverty than first.](https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2013/02/07/second-generation-americans/) Maybe there's a systemic reason for this. One OP refuses to acknowledge despite given all the tools to figure it out. The US is a racist country with racist systems.
5
>second generation immigrants tend to be more in poverty than first Woops, you completely misrepresented your own source. The study days exactly the opposite of what you just said. How can one person operate in bad faith this much. It's incredible. "Here is a summary of key findings: Educational and Economic Attainment: Adults in the second generation are doing better than those in the first generation in median household income ($58,000 versus $46,000); college degrees (36% versus 29%); and homeownership (64% versus 51%). They are less likely to be in poverty (11% versus 18%) and less likely to have not finished high school (10% versus 28%). Most of these favorable comparisons hold up not just in the aggregate but also within each racial/ethnic subgroup (e.g., second-generation Hispanics do better than first-generation Hispanics; second-generation whites do better than first-generation whites, and so on)."
1
So if their culture is to do this...then wouldn't that also make their race relevant? This just going by what you are saying
1
Largely from old northern England and Scotland, which was then transported to the US south

The OP shows how moderators are censoring. Wether the comment was correct or not, Reddit tends to more than a little Left and liberal moderators silence speech they do not agree with. ALL sides should be against the Censorship because things change and one day "YOU" will be censored too.
