In all honesty it's not worth it. Reddit from 2013 to what it is today is chalk and cheese. This platform actually doesn't allow 'free speech' unless it follows a specific narrative and the general hivemind. What people don't realise is that Tumblr was what Reddit is today. Once they shut Tumblr down they had no where to go and they came here. That's the history of Reddit.

I have been here in one form or another since 2008. Seen a lot. Big disappointment is the way the anarchistic 'true web' spirit has truly been lost here and it's becoming a shouting ground for the same bipartisan bullshit.

Reddit when I joined 12 years ago was hilarious and awesome and full of differing opinions and tons of funny people making funny memes. Idk where the humor in this world went but we desperately need it back

yeah 100% do you think it will come with web3
2
Web3 needs to wrap up a lot of the subplots going on right now maybe they do a short story that teases the comeback for web4

The humour is still there in the real world. Problem is that people are finding it increasingly difficult to separate their online presence from real life.

I've been banned from half of reddit

Interesting—would love to talk with you. Ok if my students message you?

Sure

I've been banned from all of it easily 50 times. Luckily it's easy to circumvent if you don't care about your social credit score.

Badge of honor at this point

Hit me up. I've been banned from all of reddit countless times and have plenty of stories. I'm not a troll. Just a person with differing views.

I got banned from Socialism101 and LostGeneration for “Zionism”
2
I got banned from r/therewasanattempt for saying some people were mostly peaceful. That was deemed to be a racist statement. One strike. Muted for 28 days for asking why I was banned.

I was banned from my local city subreddit for telling someone that they 'had some brain' on them for an insane logical leap.

Are you looking for people with perspectives on both points of view? That is to say, people who have been banned, but have also banned people?
1
I meant more people who thought their ban was fair/thought it wasn't fair. But we'd love to talk to someone who also mods! We did a study years ago where we interviewed someone banned from the New England Patriots subreddit. He hates the Patriots and annoyed them on purpose? :) His whole situation is very different than the folks replying to us who were banned because someone disagreed with their political views, or for other reasons--there are lots of them. We are trying to understand the complexity.

>*I meant more people who thought their ban was fair/thought it wasn't fair. But we'd love to talk to someone who also mods!* I think you missed my point. I've been banned in ways I thought were fair, and in ways that I thought weren't. But I'm also a Mod, and one who thinks their bans were fair sometimes, and unfair in the sense that they shouldn't have had to happen in the other.

Banned from r libertarian after over 20 years of supporting the party for calling out the Mises Caucus as authoritarians. So much for free speech.
1
I've been banned from r/Globeskepticism and r/ballearththatspins of course, as has everyone who tries to use science or logic against first earthers.
1
What's a first earther?

Ah that's what I figured.

I've sent you a message. Please respond.

I’ve seen my fair share of subreddit bans, but I’ve gotten the big mama a few times as well (you really think I’m two months old?) Your title just talks about subs but would you be interested in talking about the platform as a whole?

I'm banned from Political Compass Memes

I’ve been banned from a few. Feel free to message me.

I'm banned from squared circle and got a warning in ask reddit for explaining why feminism doesn't appeal to men.
