Banned for an appeal?

Some idiot misinterpreted a comment I posted and reported it as hate speech. Reddit issued a warning, but did not ban my account initially. I clicked the link to plead my case and explain the context of my comment. After their "second look", they placed a 2 day ban on my account. In reality, that ban lasted over 3 days. They banned me for trying to clear up that misunderstanding. WTF?

Yep. I got a subreddit ban upgraded to a temporary site-wide ban. Why? Because I appealed a Moderator's decision. That's "harassment" according to Reddit. I hope Elon buys this place and runs it into the ground next.

Agreed. This shit sucks. I forgot to mention that my appeal also got me permanently banned from r/popularopinion. Maybe if a lot of us pm Elon on his socials...

I got the same on r/unpopularopinion, the other sub for popular opinions

I remember having seen in reddit rules, that moderators have to take appeals seriously. Obviously, this is a rule that is not enforced - the reverse is enforced

Don't worry it'll go public soon enough. That'll be enough.

I have been banned from subs I have never commented in. Just because I like guns and was a cop.

I just today got banned from r/whitepeopletwitter, which I am not active in, for participating in this group. But part of my original "hate speech" was pro gun, so I guess it just didn't fit the narrative.

The 70% mods work for a strategist company imo. They will ban for dissenting opinion then cite harassment if you disagree with them. They don't actually care about the ban at all. Only controlling the narrative. So arguing with them is pointless since they have no feelings towards anything other then pushing an agenda. If you ever get banned from a subreddit there is no point in engaging with a bad faith mod. Also when disagreeing with people you can't call them any names even if they are calling you names. Since they will use their buddies to report for harassment. Like 50 of their accounts vs your one account will always lose. But you can definitely argue with them and make them look dumb long as you don't call them names directly.

At some point, you don’t have to tell people what to think and what to say. The fear is ingrained and they’ll advance whatever cause it is without any payment and simply out of fear.

Reddit moderators, in their quest for a fleeting sense of power and usefulness, often find themselves compelled to issue bans and engage in censorship even when there is no justifiable reason to do so. This desperate need for control, driven by the fear of experiencing severe withdrawals, is a sobering reminder of just how temporary and insubstantial this illusion of influence truly is. As soon as they return to the reality of their daily lives, the instant gratification from their perceived authority dissipates, leaving them craving for their next fix in the digital realm.

I was permanently banned from one sub for not citing scientific reference. It was also my first and only comment in that sub.

Welcome to Reddit

It would be better if you posted a screenshot of you pleading your case to the mods and trying to explain things to them. Just so we have more information.

Check their comment history. About a dozen people replying to a removed comment from OP apparently talking about how “non-traditional families” are causing mass shootings.
2
I saw those replies and got the same general sense of what the original comment may have said too. I'd still be interested to see the contextualising of the comment with the mods. It's definitely a case of more than just "an idiot" took issue with the comment. I fear op is being less than completely honest with us.

It’s usually the case here. In fact I’m here just to see how they do it every time. There’s something fun about sniffing out bullshit and getting angrily downvoted for calling them out.

The angry voting is one thing. The one that gives me a chuckle is when they block me. Like, isn't that the same thing your post is complaining about, and now you're doing it to me? *I feel so silenced for speaking out against the narrative.*

No need to this is done so often it would be information overload.

You said something probably true in a discussion, someone didn't like it and used the word of death "hate speech" mod reacted as always to left wing nut jobs. This practice will be the death of reddit.

Another option for reviewing removed content is your ***Rev***eddit [user page](https://www.reveddit.com/y/O!k!-!M!i!s!s!i!o!n!-!6!2!6!2?all=true). Called a fake drug dealer harassing me an “idiot” and was warned for bullying/harrassing. His account was closed!

Same thing. Someone reported my comment because they chose to interpret it incorrectly as racist. Explained my meaning to the mods. They didn't care. Ironically, their policy of allowing videos of racially motivated violence only encourages and perpetuates rascism. 🙄

I got banned for proof. I stated proof is not in your rules or guidelines for this sub. I got muted for that one.
