After posting a bit on /r/destiny and /r/nfl today, suddenly was notified of a ban on /r/TwoXChromosomes. Seems one of their power tripping mods is off banning folks they disagree with on video game or football subjects. As far as I know, you can ban people who have never posted in your sub. Reddit just won't send them a notification about it. So what the mod was saying is that since he got a notification, he has posted in that sub before though it may have been years ago.

I browsed it for a bit because I got a ban for an unknown reason and it's a default but it's full of toxic infighting, looks cliquey, bans appear to be left and right and it looks like it can come from any small thing to include but not limited to hurting a fat girls feelings in an unrelated sub, so basically it's name fits what you would think it would be....a bunch of women overreacting and no one paying attention

My username isn't here and I was banned yesterday too. Are there other lists? I haven't posted on 2X in more than 6 months. I asked them what the ban was for and got a generated message apologizing that I wasn't notified that I was banned when it happened. No explanation for the ban; there clearly isn't one. It's not a big deal, and then again it is cause thought policing will soon get us all banned from everywhere.

It actually sounds like they converted their AutoMod autoremoval ("AutoMod" Shadowbans) and converted to real bans. They added a likely bot 1-2 days agos that likely did just that.

They are going to justify mass banning by making vague references to people having done something in the past to get on some ban list, and just now they suddenly ban everyone. They will refuse to tell you why. This is just the act of sociopaths to manipulate and obfuscate what they do, pretending they are following the rules, whilst denying you the information to verify that.

Was also just banned. I haven't posted there in over a week, and still have over 1000 karma there. So not sure what exactly their criteria is. I just searched to see who else was banned since their message implied they were banning more than just me. Edit: I directly contacted a couple mods directly. I'll let you know what their reply to me is, if it is just one mod acting on their own this will probably be more effective than shouting back at them.

You're on the same list that most of the other people here are on. Looks like if you posted on T_D sometime before June of last year you got branded by some Trumpy browser extension and were probably shadow banned from their sub via the automoderator. Now I think they are turning the shadow bans into actual bans.

I've posted on there and had conversations all year so I don't think I was shadow banned. As a side note... if it's anyone who posted before a certain point that strikes me as... frankly insane. Most of the early posters were parody. It was a joke, and he was literally a clown we were laughing at. Are you sure it's only banning people who posted before a certain point?

If you look at my other posts, I posted a script called Trumpy that has all of our usernames on it. The History page of the script shows that it was created 2016-06-15 and it hasn't been updated since then. So most likely somewhere around that date they scraped usernames from T_D and labeled them all "active posters".

I just checked a few subs and so far the only one I have found is /r/BlackLadies. I can't make comments or posts there, so they probably banned people from this list as well. I sent three moderators and the automod thingy four messages asking them what the ban was for. I'll wait 24 hours and choose 3 other mods and send them the same msg. I want to know what I did. First because if I offended someone I would genuinely appreciate the chance to apologize, and second because if this is thought policing coming from a default sub, Reddit is done; everybody is going to end up banned from everywhere.

Most of my Karma comes from SRS, TwoX and The Blue Pill. I post a lot of Purple Pill Debate too, but my views aren't upvoted there for obvious reasons. You literally cannot get any more bleeding heart liberal than me. I hardly ever post on SRS anymore, though I'm still quite a fan. I stopped posting when they decided to stop mocking MRAs. I stopped posting on TwoX when they were allowing MRAs to hijack every single thread back when they went default, years ago. After that I only rarely posted on 2X. I'm mostly on The Blue Pill now where I can mock misogynists at will. For now, cause if this goes unchecked we will all probably be banned from everywhere. I'm going to pursue this because I know it's bullshit. There is no reason for my ban. I challenge anybody to find one post in my history that's not bleeding heart liberal, as long as they keep in mind that The Blue Pill is a satire sub.

Yeah I checked your post history a little bit because I was curious and clearly you are the model user for most of the subs that blanket banned. You will see that mine is 90% help posts in small car subs. I consider myself in the center, SRS does not appeal to me, some of what they post seems pretty intended to be jokes to me and I think it is overreacting, but I also do not read the subs that slant the other way. I try to stay away from jerking it either direction. The 'worst' I have done is say maybe we should give Trump a chance immediately after the election since he was the president now and maybe we would be wrong. Clearly we weren't and he sucks, but I wanted him to get to prove he would be a terrible president and not just an asshole first. What irritates me the most is that I'm open minded. If I advocate for anything it is for reasonable discourse as I truly believe that most (not all) confrontations are rooted in miscommunication and small differences of a opinion, where even if two people will never agree, they can at least understand where the other is coming from and they don't need to hate each other. My mind is a little blown that I've laughed at the idea of a reddit SRS cabal when now it appears to be half true, as I do not think they are necessarily SRS but they obviously do exist. I'm not sure what they were hoping to accomplish but I for one am even more convinced that freedom of speech and dissenting opinion are more important than feelings than ever. I hope your ban gets overturned because your history shows that even if you don't agree with a person you can discuss things like an adult and reddit (and the world) needs more of that. For myself, I'm just going to +filter them and move on with my life, I suppose.

I do agree though that we have to keep a dialogue going even if it's uncomfortable for the ones arguing and probably very inconvenient for the mods. I can't imagine how difficult moderating must be and deciding all the time where you draw the line, but moderating by banning and preventing people from expressing their opinions because you can't be bothered is ridiculous. If your mind's blown, imagine mine. I didn't even think that something on the Internet would bother me that much. I hope your ban gets overturned too. Yes and no; I gave up my old account because a power-mod banned me from a default sub for being a KIA contributor. Within 2 weeks I was banned from about 20 different subs, many I had never even visited. In theory that should not be possible with the "new" rules but somehow I feel that will only be applied to subs like T_D that might ban SRS/Pol trolls.

I think my posts at politics and Donald, mostly during the election reflect that. Wonder why I got a ban. I replied, I guess we will find out. If you've commented in a sub before, you will get a PM saying you're banned if they officially ban you. If you've never posted in the sub before, the only way to tell is by visiting the sub and seeing that you can't post or comment. There's also a secret way they can ban you. They can make the automoderator automatically remove any posts you make. The post will still appear for you and show up on your profile, but no one else can see it.

This all goes against the new community guidelines, feel free to send a message to the admins. Can this kind of thing be avoided by having a 'nice' account, which one uses to visit politically correct subs, and a 'nasty' account which one uses to comment on TD / TIA / [whatever else people find offensive]? Or would your two accounts' origins from the same IP address be visible to mods or other compilers of blacklists?

Admins could see the IPs, though I doubt they check that stuff unless someone suspects you're a banned person using an alt account. Also it would technically be against the rules if you were banned on one account and still commenting on the sub with another, though I am not sure how that works if you were never notified that you were banned.

Now, that might be how *shadow bans* work, but a mod-induced shadow ban is not a formal, official reddit ban. I've asked the mods at TwoX how their "delayed response" bans work, am still waiting for an answer.
