Reddit is Censoring R/Politics - Makes R-Politice a Left Wing Hellhole

It's an insane policy. In R-Politics, by it's name a supposedly neutral site, any post on a thread that is right wing will be downvoted by those who don't agree with the thoughts. Then Reddit hides it. This has turned R-Politics into a Left Wing Hellhole. What value does a Political site have if it doesn't display all views. Censorship at it's worst Below is the post I wrote and it was down voted 45 times than hidden. I object to a policy where a site that is supposed to be neutral will not allow opposing views to be heard. Below is a link to the post, you'll find me hidden at the bottom of it. And I've also copied and pasted what I posted below. https://www.reddit.com/r/politics/comments/7rn60l/republicans_are_preparing_to_shut_down_the/ It is not the Republicans shutting down the Government. What does DACA have to do with the Budjet? Why is approval of DACA such an issue that the Government should close over it? The Republicans have been clear Build the Wall End Chain Migration 3 Implement Merit Based immigration For them to start legalizing large amounts of immigrants, they have to be sure that our immigration system is fixed. Why are the Democrats so hot about keeping our broken immigration system. Because 8 out of 10 newly naturalized citizens vote for the Democratic Party. Why are the Rhinos in the Republican Party allowing it. Because they are owned by the special interest groups who want cheap immigrant labor to keep their cost of labor down. And who is shafted? Tne middle class and especially lower middle class who have had there wages driven down by illegal immigrants. I have nothing against DACA but I'm a populist and I don't think that our current immigration system is good for America. And before you call me a Racist ask my Mexican Wife and my hispanic children about my White Privilege.

Anyone who spends more than a month on Reddit can figure out /r/politics is cancer. Nothing but bots and shills. Can't figure out if they think they're fooling someone or they're really that deep in their own feces. Only time I go there is to sort by controversial for the lulz.

We find our true friends on the battlefield.

I'm pretty sure they believe it. I've seen people defend it as if it was legit for it to be a counter to /r/The_Donald, despite not being an open advocacy page, and for having done it a lot longer than /r/The_Donald has existed.

Couldn't agree more. I've been on this site for a little over 2 weeks but had that fact nailed down in bout two days. Such a shame, I naively went in there posting my views openly and got downvoted to smithereens in a hurry. Probably not hard to correctly discern which way of center I lean. To post anything remotely positive about something POTUS has done gets you shit on hard. It's all feels and tears over there. Disgusting.

>What value does a Political site have if it doesn't display all views. You seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of why reddit is so thoroughly monetized

I was referring to r/politics not Reddit as a whole. If they don't want to show all views including right wing than change the name to /rliberalpolitics. You'd think that since the name is about Politics in general it would be open to all political thoughts. Guess I learned the hard way and won't post there anymore.

Reddit is monetized by more than the admins. Many moderators have similar employment concerns, the worst subs simply enforce their finances so badly the subs became worthless.

>Makes R-Politice a Left Wing Hellhole Makes? It's always been.

Mitch McConnell is a spineless worm. He should have explicitly spelled out that Democrats were shutting down the government for the sake of illegal aliens.

If you look at Mitch McConnell's history he is the ultimate Rhino. He caved into the Democrats big time. He's an establishment guy and all he's interested in is maintaining the Status Quo. Politicians like him really don't care about America. They care about keeping their power and keeping all the money from the Special interest groups flowing. I despise McConnel, it goes beyond spineless worm .

It’s American leftists. I don’t side with left or right in America, because they’re more partisan and lacking true ideals. But I find people on the American left just as intolerant as people on the American right. On reddit, the American left is just more populous, so you get crazy censorship.

Baozebub if you lived in America you'd realize that the left is way more intolerant and that the right is much more open to ideas. Perfect example is that right wing speakersare being intimidated not to speak at Universities with threats of violence. The way America has always worked a speaker with an opposing view comes to University. The students politely listen than after the speech there is question and answer. At which time the students can ask questions and argue with the speaker. Now the leftist University's won't allow speakers with opposing right wing views because the student boycott, protest, get violent. They are so intolerant that they are unwilling to even listen to an opposing view.

Its a sad state of affairs then you have to throw in the Mexican Wife and Hispanic children as a defense against being called racist by these vicious bloodthirsty leftist censors. At this point they don't even care what you're, its the internet, the only place there they can get away with their commie bullshit, so they will proceed to sniff their own farts in this reddit shit bubble.

As a non-American hoping to hear from both sides I’m a bit disappointed in Reddit. That being said - *all American discussion* boards seem to be that way. There is no right-leaning equivalent to Reddit. I know there’s a lot pointless comments here that do nothing but sling insults or toe the party line, but the majority of them are actual on-topic, logical, calm discussions. I have never found a right-leaning board that is like that. Just look at the comments from this article on uncensored news today: https://www.reddit.com/r/uncensorednews/comments/7rriru/3_arrested_for_raping_man_pouring_bleach_onto_his/ It’s basically a bunch of people calling blacks niggers, then getting upvoted because of it. That’s a pretty good representation of what all the pro-Republican boards devolve into that I have come across. I honestly don’t know if this is an indication of who the Republican base is, I just haven’t found the right site, or if it means the intellectual Republicans have abandoned the internet out of frustration - but either way it seems the Republican base has lost the war for the internet. The democrats seem to dominate all corners of it.

If that was banned from r/Politics then I'm going to be disappeared in the night. I'm sure my FISA warrant has already been signed.

Trust me. It's not left wing. It's firmly liberal and more specifically, neoliberal. If you think that's lefty, the Overton window in America has clearly tainted your view of the political spectrum.

I posted a star trek quote and was downvoted because I said that it would be valid regardless of which party runs the country.

Partisans can't handle being called out on their partisanship.

> In R-Politics any post on a thread that is right wing will be downvoted Are upvotes and downvotes not a good indicator of good content anymore? Don't the users have a right to vote on what they deem important?
-11
You are exactly right. A post being downvoted and not getting seen because downvoted posts go to the bottom is *not* censorship. It's exactly how every sub should operate. I agree that r-politics is very **very** left, but that is not an example of their censorship. This post makes us look like right wing cry babies. We're not right or left. We're against censorship. That's all. This post is not becoming of this sub.
-3
Correct. If he wants to talk about censorship, ask about how t_d has its own special set of rules compared to the rest of reddit.
12
You clowns need to stop comparing public subs to T_D. When will you boneheads finally get it through your skulls that T_D is a FAN CLUB. Its not a public forum for discussion.
5
Exactly. If /r/news and /r/worldnews put something in their sidebar that said "You aren't allowed to post anything that we don't agree with" then the mods' behavior on those subs wouldn't be censorship. It'd just be rules enforcement.
5
He's talking about how T_d is moderated by the reddit Admins including being barred from the front page and other forms of sweeping censorship, not about T_d's self governance.

Didn't come noff sounding that way originally, I may have rushed-read it, if so, apologies

No worries mate. Drew hit the nail on the head. What I would want is all subreddits playing by the same rules. They get to the front page (or not) based on their own merits and the people's votes. I'm sick of the selective and biased approach some of the admin and mods have openly displayed. That's all. Spezit: Grammar
