Submitted text post in it's entirety: "[WP] If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear. Only a terrorist would wish for opaque clothing." Response: >Hi there, this post has been removed. >While it doesn't seem to be your intent, the mods reserve the right to remove anything we feel may become harmful to the community. This includes prompts likely to generate such responses.

Of course, we can't hurt the feelings of the intellectual children over at WRITING PROMPTS

That’s not much to do with censoring, the WP itself looks like you were trying to get such out of it..

So, you want some books banned? You want a book-burning party? Go away.

I've never encountered a person trying to mount a defense *against* reading before, it's quite incredible. What's the best book you HAVE read? Go check out the essays and novels of George Orwell, I recommend Animal Farm, 1984, Burmese Days, and his collected essays. One of the most celebrated authors of the 20th century. Are you going to read, or are you going to argue why you shouldn't? Keep wasting your time moderating the pre-teen content of your pathetic subreddits instead of absorbing carefully constructed and edited content from the greatest minds of all time. Enjoy your 'social media', you're a perfect example of why this shit is poison.

"OH MY SUBREDDIT HAS THIS MANY DUMB TEENS IN IT! READING, WHAT'S THAT LOL!?" Is that what you moderators do, keep score of subscribers while you upvote each other's comments? I've *read* about your generation and its obsession with fame over all other values. I see that the research was qualified.

"More" = better, eh? You are aware, I'm sure, of how many examples in history invalidate that assessment. You must be young, very young, to equate quantity with value. Twilight smashes box office records, it must be an amazing piece of art, right? So, you don't read. I get it. So you moderate subreddits that appeal to the slight left of the bell curve, and you think because a lot of people are slightly retarded, it must make you superior, because you have a horde of mentally deficient droolers standing behind you. You can be the Retard Hitler, high achiever...

I was married for 12 years. I've probably written more love songs than times you've had sex. You don't think I know what it's like to have someone love me? That's a really hurtful thing to say. One day you'll grow up, and realize what a venomous snake you are right now. You're choosing to go down with the ship: "I don't want to read." You're going to die on the hill called "illiteracy", bitching all the way, how you refuse to read a book you claim is for 7th graders because it's for "retards and for faggots." You're a really despicable human being. Goodbye.

I did try to kill myself. I hung myself and I lost consciousness and had a near death experience. I have PTSD. How do you feel about your words now? I have nightmares every single night and I will probably never feel peace again. How cruel can you possibly be with your words? You are trying to end the life of another human being. Rethink how you interface with the world, it's very hurtful.

Holy fuck, you're in RedditCensors and you appear to not even know WHAT 1984 is. Why are you subbed here? Have you read, "My ABCs"?

Maybe you should sit down for a few hours and read the most recognized and referenced book about censorship ever written. You can't remember if you've read one of the most cited books ever written? That's pathetic. Try spending less time on your smart phone. Considering how often it comes up in modern culture, maybe you should sit down and read it, and learn something about the consequences of the censorship you care so little about. Pick up the book or shut up.

I'm telling you to educate yourself before you make yourself look even more like an idiot than you already have. If you don't mind looking like a complete fool, then by all means, continue.

Oh yeah? I'm 37 and I read. So I guess I'm the exception to your rule. Maybe you should pick up a real book too.

And you're the one complaining about 14yo edgelords? Are you an 11yo edgelord then? "Retarded?" Didn't your SJW overlords tell you yet? That word has been outlawed from civil discourse, retard.

I'm not crying over this censorship, I'm telling you to read a fucking book, and you're telling everyone why you're too good to read one of the most read books of the 20th century. You claim you might have FORGOTTEN reading 1984. Everyone who has read it knows that's completely insane. You're delusional. Now that I know you're a mod, that comes as no surprise. Do you have extra accounts that you use for your two free upvotes, or do you tell two mod friends every time you post, and you circle-jerk upvote each other on every comment?

If you read it, you would know. If you don't remember, then you should read it again. "Retarded faggot." Very mature, compelling way to present your argument. You're really swaying me. You really come off as well read. I'm sure you must have read Orwell, and simply forgotten, just like you forgot most of what you ever learned.

You haven't read any works from one of the most read authors of the 20th century. How do you even know what the reading level is? Burmese Days is 7th grade level? Why don't you tell me about the content of that book, and how a 7th grader would even understand South African Apartheid, facial disfigurement, loveless relationships, and suicide? You haven't even read the books you're criticizing. Anyone who spends enough time on reddit to moderate 4 fucking subreddits instead of reading books is out of their fucking mind.

So, are you going to read the book, or are you going to keep criticizing it? If it's 7th grade level you should be able to finish it in less time than it takes to watch a fucking film, considering the high opinion you have of your own reading level. Will you commit to reading it, so that you know what you're talking about, or are you going to continue arguing from a position of ignorance?

It's about a dystopian near-future where the government monitors all actions of the population through cameras and microphones embedded in "screens." All relationships are coordinated by the government and romance is outlawed because of the instability it can create in society. Foreign wars are engineered and history is constantly re-written to fit the narrative of the government. ie) Chocolate output is down 50%, but the government will instruct the news to report that it is down 60%, then announce a 10% increase two weeks later. Everyone is very pleased about the 'increase.' If it's easier for you, you can watch the motion picture, the one released in 1984 is quite faithful to the book. Perhaps that will pique your interest. He who controls the present controls the past, he who controls the past controls the future. It's built upon the work of Yevgeny Zamyatin's "We", which was smuggled out of the USSR. I recommend that book as well. In both you will find disturbing parallels to how the modern propaganda machine works. The Iraq war lie, the perpetual "war on terrorism", etc. Instead of spending your time moderating the vomitous output of high-schoolers, I would recommend you try to take in some broader knowledge that passes through skilled editors. Unfortunately that limits you to the 20th century and before, since all modern output is "stream of consciousness" social media garbage, as writing became a completely unprofitable enterprise. There is no fact-checking or quality-control anymore, which makes reading works from this golden age all the more important.

Oh wow, this is a mod. Now this all makes sense. Big surprise... Now the second phantom-upvote for every comment makes sense. Anyone who seeks power and control with no reward, like reddit moderators, is narcissistic by definition. Amazing he can only afford a few free upvotes, you'd think someone with this much self-love would have a chinese vote-farm behind them by now.

This moderator just told me to kill myself. I'm a suicide survivor. I have PTSD from a near death suicide experience. He told me to "not be a quitter", and to try again. I am disgusted. https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditCensors/comments/8b98ro/writingprompts_doesnt_like_anything_to_do_with/dx5un0p/
