Can we talk about r/politics

Why is it every post that isnt anti republican anti Trump gets silently removed. When you post about wanting to have an intellectual discussion rather than just bash one side your comments get taken down or you get down voted into oblivion. I thought r/politics would be a good place to actually discuss things not a circle jerk of people sharing a tribal mentality.

You are preaching to the choir. Prior to the 2016 election there was multiple viewpoints on that sub. You can use internet archive or wayback machine to see this. You will also see a MOD overhaul of most "Default" subs and mass bannings of anyone that spoke out against the Narrative to Be. This actually lead to TheDonald and other subs that are considered Right wing. You will also see subs like conspiracy get mass brigaded (I still see them using mediamatters as a source.) Politics quit using Shareblue/Mediamatters after months/years of criticism but they still are being pushed hard on MSM literal fake news. Articles state politics was sold off for around 2mil. Other subs no clue but they all had mod changes around that time.

I guess it just dumbfounds me in a way. I get what your saying but its politics not r/democrats or r/The_Donald I can understand those subreddits downvoting opposing views but Shouldnt politics be about open discussion. Doesnt the auto mod state something about the subreddit being about open discussion? I could be wrong on that.

Here's a sneak peek of /r/democrats using the [top posts](https://np.reddit.com/r/democrats/top/?sort=top&t=year) of the year! \#1: [It would not be polite to ask the President to walk farther than 100 feet without a golf cart.](https://i.imgur.com/glFDwNO.jpg) | [83 comments](https://np.reddit.com/r/democrats/comments/85y5ja/it_would_not_be_polite_to_ask_the_president_to/) \#2: [Brian Klaas: "The President is openly attempting to go after the owner of a private business because that person also owns a newspaper that accurately reports unflattering stories about the White House. politics helds its rules in such a way that it will let others break it if it is within the narrative of what they are pushing. Recently /r/videos was doing the same with the Covington Kids. They only post politics related videos UNLESS it goes against the narrative then they ban it. If you actually look at /r/politics in a day to day basis its 90% anti-trump often fake news (let me know trump is done this time). None of those stories pan out and most are dismissed as fake news in 72hrs. politics as a subreddit was never like this in 2016. Some of those stories paned out. It should be for open discussion but I dare you to state something or use a source for that fact on something that is actual news and not clickbait or antitrump. In the first 30min you are downvoted -50. Whether it is true or not. There are many subreddits breaking site wide rules and the Admins do nothing this is brought up time and again. Pay attention to /r/undeleted for a bit. At one time there had been 3 undeleted type subreddits. only undeleted is still active semi. If you pay attention long enough you start to read the code like the matrix. It's not a ban here or a ban there I can read it like it is a picture.

The covington kids was a fiasco i cant believe how people just go with something without the facts or full context. And I actually did recently make a post in politics 27 downvotes in ten minutes then someone commented on a spelling error in my post i thanked the user for pointing that out to me and even that got downvoted. Im unsure what you mean by undeleted there seems to be no posts in it.

/r/undelete It's a sub for mod deleted submissions. there was other subreddits like this because the defaults were working around the undeleted submissions. One of the better methods was to just unlist it and relist for various reasons. /r/UndeleteShadow and /r/UndeletePredictions are also subreddits that were used last election because reddit was die hard banning or deleting submissions en passe. UndeletePredictions was my favorite and I actually used it for the Covington Kids fiasco not long ago. It was pretty accurate in 2016 because of the Narrative Reddit was pushing.

>how people just go with something without the facts or full context This is happening all too often nowadays and it pisses me off. Everyone thinks they know everything. If there is missing information, they fill in the blanks themselves and assume the facts instead of waiting for the full story. We live in an age of instant gratification and people get angry if they don’t get the full story right away. We also live in a time where although it’s very progressive, there are too many stubborn people who will refuse to change their minds or admit they’re wrong even when called out.

Don't get beat down, those 27 downvotes were prolly half bots or click farms they hire in China for pennies... [https://i.imgur.com/BVUn122.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/BVUn122.jpg)

This may be the best thing ive ever seen

[this is r/politics in a nutshell](https://youtu.be/qjUvfZj-Fm0)

That's actually the problem, the people who post on that sub actually think that the counterpart to it is the_donald. I've seen people claim that because /r/The_Donald, an open fansub, bans people for speaking ill of the president, it's okay for them to behave the same way.
19
Reddit is no longer a place where you can see intelligent debate of conflicting view points. It could have/should have been so much more.
10
> I get what your saying but its politics not r/democrats or r/The_Donald They very intentionally take over or create seemingly neuteral sounding subs and then control the narrative to make it appear as though that is the popular opinion. It's just marketing.
6
> It's just ~~marketing~~ Shareblue propaganda. FTFY :(

LOL prior to 2016 reddit was literally the ron paul situation station and everyone hated clinton. It honestly sucks having memory.
3
Not only Reddit... everyone I fucking knew was like this in real life. Now they foam at the mouth in favor of the clintons and if you bring up any of their former opinions they act like they somehow “overcame brainwashing” Like dude... a few years ago you were complaining about how the media is owned by 5 conglomerates and now you believe every damn thing they say. See the irony? No? Ok.

yeup i remember all the infographics vividly.

I am going to get banned for this but this muthafukka should be dead. what an absolutely disgusting piece of shit I got banned for this, as if I can't say he should be dead, he eats mcdicks everyday. WHAT THE LIVING FUCK

Because admins deliberately allow outside entities to take over subs in exchange for driving up gold purchases. It might even be direct money deposit in exchange for mod positions in high-traffic subs, but that's a bit far-fetched.

Reddit is based in The People's Republic of San Francisco.
15
Reddit is heavily astroturf. R/politics is a chess pool of astroturfing from Shareblue and other David Brock creations.
13
Outright intolerance of a diversity of viewpoints is why. Every mouthed defense of open discussion and free speech there is Orwellian doublespeak, which is to say utter fraudulence. You learned fast, grasshopper.
10
They are a paid sub now.. shills for their cause.

lol that shit hole got bought out by david brock of shareblue back in 2016

Reddit is a pretty left-leaning site. I don’t like how homogenous the conversation becomes sometimes when it comes to politics but, as a user-driven platform, it’s only natural that the site’s political demographics are reflected in /r/politics. If you like balanced discussion, try seeking out subs that promote it. /r/NeutralPolitics and /r/ExplainBothSides might be a good place to start.
18
I understand reddit tends to be left leaning but why is someone not allowed to say hey lets have a conversation about whats actually going on?
-3
Because it's a private website that can do whatever it wants. All our bitching means nothing because we don't own reddit, we use their free service. I don't like the censorship, but I understand it.
9
I guess i just feel like censorship is a waste of time. All it does is promote anti-intellectualism.

I came here to post about the same thing, it isnt just me is it? Now because people have downvoted my comments, I can not post for up to 10-15mins at a time. This is DISGUSTING, REDDIT IS BECOMING LIKE COMMUNIST CHINA WTF MAN? Seriously, if Reddit continues to do this, they will open up a serious, SERIOUS can of worms. I am not making a threat here, but from what I have seen in the past, Anonymous, Hackers etc Reddit will get completely DDoSd and will have serious negative PR if this is this case. FREE SPEECH!
2
No its not just you at all. After making this post ive been doing some research and what everyone said above seems to check out.

This seriously annoys me. We have nowhere to go and say "Hey, WTF? Censorship is not allowed" etc. We have nowhere to complain too. If we decided to go to another platform, that next platform will get well known and then the same thing will happen. If we stay here, we are basically an entire group of people that is shadow-banned; we won't hear the otherside of the debate and neither will the ~~cucks~~ otherside hear ours.

r/politics is an awful sub. Full of hateful people and misleading articles. Cannot recommend going there for any news.
