Because the minorities I've seen talking about it treat these characters as a fair ground ride "Oh you whites have already had Ariel, let's black children have another princess" or "whites have had X many white princesses" etc

Here's my thing: I'm not going to watch it, because Ariel is white. That said, I just don't care. I wouldn't have probably seen it anyway, because I don't give a shit about it. It doesn't upset me. It's just not a revision/retelling that interests me. I prefer my memory of the original. Let them have their movie and feel super woke and good about themselves. Enjoy.
