This whole thing is scary. There are legitimate scientists saying they think this was man-made. The smartest seem to be suggesting it’s possibly due to mice who have had SARS being given a corona virus vaccine and then poor biohazard disposal. That seems to make the most sense. But it sure calmed down the Hong Kong protests. So hmmmm...And now the CDC is using quarantine power for the first time in 50 years. And the government is evacuating Americans from China in a manner I can’t remember seeing with prior outbreaks. They’re not being honest with us. The actions of the government are not matching the public, “this isn’t serious, so don’t panic” statements. That worries me the most.

Most of the HIV stuff seems alarmist and possibly a poor understanding of current science. I don’t really fully understand this level of virology. One person, who seemed to speak the verbiage on that thread, said that HIV-based vectors are not uncommon in this kind of research. Basically saying that HIV has been studied for so long that we’ve made tools from aspects of the virus and that this causes there to be genetic HIV residue when these tools are used. I’m not sure that this was intentionalIy released. I do think it escaped a lab and that it might be very bad.
