Man, it's been a while since I've seen someone bring up how ironic r/atheism has become. It's refreshing!

"starting"? lmao. It's been like that a long time dude

Exactly, at this point OP's post is super low effort trolling. No wonder it got removed.

r/exmormon as well. You ever meet the guy/girl who just can't stop talking about their ex that they supposedly are totally done with?

I’ve met people who were abused, sure.

I grew up mormon, went on a mission, realized it was all bullshit and left. I rarely talk about it because it literally means nothing to me now and there's no reason to focus my life around it.

Good for you? Meanwhile, they’re still out there ruining lives and promoting superstition. It’s like leaving the KKK and then not caring the KKK exists. That’s of course your option.
1
So we should fixate every facet of our life around the KKK just because they exist and are out there doing bad shit ? That'll show em

Some people think Mormonism is cute and fine for whatever reason. We don’t really think that of the KKK.

If you want a recent example of their general crapness look at their reaction to the Covington videos. Loads of threats of violence and abuse directed against children who very likely had no choice about their religion/school and who (as other video showed) did nothing wrong. Ironically, rather than relying on the available evidence /r/atheism ran with their prejudice and ill-informed beliefs. Then they somewhat religiously banned anyone who pointed out they'd got it wrong.

It's odd to me how against "religious" schools some people are. My boyfriend, and all his friends, went to a catholic private school. All of them are atheist. Most of the kids who went to the school are, but it was (and is) one of the best schools in the area. They have an amazing arts program, and endeavor to teach kids not only math and science, but how to get out in the world and excel. Shouldn't we all want that for our kids?

The mark of a shitty sub. When meta conversations about the state of the platform are censored.
6
That happens a lot with ideologies where you hate someone or something so much you go full circle and start to act like them

Unsubscribed from there not long after November 2016, about the time every single post became "ORANGE MAN BAD!".

That's why I dont call myself an atheist anymore. Too many shitty people.

Got banned from there, not really sure it's an atheist /sub, more like a controlled narrative hive mind to instantly berate simple questions the minute one is asked, huge disappoint there with no intellectual dialogue.
1
This isn't really censorship. This is more, "Don't come into my house and insult me." If a sub is called /r/atheism it is for discussing atheism not for religionists to go there and insult religion. It's pretty much going into a sub about say Apple and making posts only about PC's. After all atheists don't go to /r/Christianity or /r/Islam to post or insult.

Agreed on concept, I just always think it's a bit ironic the.. shall we say, religious fervor shown by the /r/atheism types. And this from a group that prides themselves on being "free thinkers" and "logical". You'd expect an ability, if not a willingness to debate.

Except Athiesm has *become* a religion...

Yeah this is an ongoing thing for OPs here. Post on ${sub}: “Hey assholes, ever think that ${sub} actually sucks?” Post here: “${sub} banned me. Omg, Reddit censors!”

Very long ago even pre-reddit most atheist groups were leftist SJWs. No room for non-left atheists there.

Only difference is that now churches are also SJW and basically exist to bring in migrants
