One of the few people I've found that talks about the decay of society and the need for a revolution is Wai H. Tsang. One of the main reasons is "worldview." The highest value that emerges from neoliberal world is absolute selfishness, which is the opposite of what made the internet great in the first place. A society whose highest value is absolute selfishness has no future! Check out this talk. i personally have given up on "ideas", "paradigm shifts" and "narratives" because of what is happening in the university, and opt towards "ritual-ideology" to bring about this "spiritual revolution" ... as the description in the video above.
