Comment on: Dallas cops lost 8TB of criminal case data during bungled migration, says the DA... four months later - The Register
> The migration, which took place between 31 March and 5 April, actually destroyed 22TB of data. 14TB were recovered, presumably from backups, but "approximately 8 Terabytes remain missing and are believed to be unrecoverable." Imagine fucking up a drag and drop from one drive to another.

Because they're consolidating. SVOD isn't viable and therefore poor performers are being annexed into one giant non-viable product. It is just delaying their death. The general public is sick of paying out the ass for subscription services that in many cases still serve you ads to some degree. Might as well just take the ads and get the content for free.

That there is another talking point. People in general are starting to get fed up with every company holding their hand out for $10/mo for a lack luster product.

I also see this in practice. I haven't actually watched anything on Netflix in over a year, and this is with a shared family account. There just isn't anything worth it anymore. Aside from the 1 week of memes around Tiger King last year, what else has Netflix done that is notable. > inb4 the child porn dancing show Although I can't remember if that was pre and post Tiger King.

Right, the average Ruqqus user isn't going to be ok with it. I'm not either, but for the average person in the US and the world, AVOD will win out.

For many people like you and me, yes. But the average person isn't going to use torrents, therefore AVOD is going to be the winner.

Comment on: The Norwegian Consumer Council says it's time to ban surveillance-based advertising, calling for action from authorities on both sides of the Atlantic
Why is it that governments want to attack companies for serving ads using cookie pools, but won't own up to the spying they do on us, which is arguably far worse. Just keep flaring up the attention off of the BS they doing. "surveillance-based advertising", saying it like its scary. What they doing is actually scary, an ad for your local pizza joint isn't. Fucking hell people, even privacy minded people, are stupid to jump on the anti-advertising wagon.

Comment on: US Senate passes aggressive chip shortage bill, China is not happy about it
I agree, the cost of labor is too high and the cost of energy has been pushed up by Democrats for years. Our best bet would be to work toward a hybrid solution. Manufacturing in countries other than China while some stuff comes back to domestic factories.

Comment on: US Senate passes aggressive chip shortage bill, China is not happy about it
The circle jerk bureaucracy and unions will be the down fall of the US. We're got to cut back the red tape. This is why infrastructure projects take 10+ years, go over budget, and typically have endless issues with the final product. US manufacturing needs to come back, and fast. Sadly, it will get a lot worse before people see what needs to be done.
