Comment on: Where should I migrate my projects to (from Github)?
0 07 Aug 2015 01:00 u/AdamRGrey in v/programmingComment on: Github disables repository for using the word "retard."
To be fair, reddit would remove this because it's a degree removed from programming. Like their "if there's no code in it it doesn't belong here" rule.
Comment on: In light of GitHub's recently-announced anti-straight-white-male Code of Conduct, I'd like to reiterate some alternatives to them.
You're being slightly hyperbolic. Yes, they've acted on some stupid ideas of social justice. But you'll notice that c+= was a joke project, ToleranUX was a joke project, webmconverter (popularly "webm for retards") is back (description is now "webm for bakas") (yes, this is dumb), and yes banning GamerGateOP was dumb. But they're not "locked in", necessarily. They just have some morons in positions of power. If the bullies that convinced them to get rid of their carpet can corrupt them, maybe through calm, rational action, we can fix them. For example: they explicitly didn't change their TOS or adopt their own Code of Conduct. It's a big dumb PR move.
If we're talking about hosting your own solution, I'm a fan of redmine. But moreover, I'm a fan of bitnami's redmine package.
