Yes, but they were within Reddit's larger discourse. The people who consumed and visited their content also visited other subredits, where their views could be questioned and refined. Their content also had a reputation, a reputation that doesn't immediately follow if they switch sites. If they leave the platform there will be no one to check their beliefs. Also, two wrongs don't make a right.

By removing unpopular groups from popular forums, such as Reddit, you are only forcing them to create new, more isolated communities. With them being separated from the marketplace of ideas, their views are only going to get more radicalized. We are not for free speech because we are racist, but rather because it is the best way to counter racism.
