US support of Israel and a perception of colonialism in American foreign policy play a major role in anti-American sentiment. I think both sides should understand each other's perspectives in order to make peace rather than blanket hating entire countries of people. Isn't understanding the historical context a better move then just throwing your hands up and saying they're a country of terrorists and "they" are collectively responsible for all the actions taken by individual terrorists or by their government?

I guess you could've specified the Iranian government and clarified you have nothing against Iranian people.
