Comment on: Peloton remotely bricks treadmills for those not paying $39.99 per month
With the subscription, you have a live aerobics instructor yelling at you. I guess some people are into that. I think the subscription also allows people to do training classes with other people, so you're competing against other live participants, remotely.

Unfortunately, LibreOffice can't edit password protected .docx/.xlsx files, which I often have to work with.

I don't like relying on the cloud. I've been in disaster areas without internet access for a week. Imagine a war / civil war / cyberwar situation that knocks out the internet in your area. Personally, I still want access to my files. You shoud also keep in mind that Google Drive was deleting people's personal files that had "coronavirus misinformation". Expect libtech firms like Google to get even worse over time. https://reclaimthenet.org/google-drive-takes-down-user-file-plandemic/

MS Office **365** is subscription. But there are one-time fee versions of MS Office ("Home & Student" is $150 one-time fee) https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/b/help-me-choose-office

I think it would make more sense to just sell the $3,000+ Peloton treadmill to someone who wants to pay the subscription fee, and then buy a regular treadmill for $500.

The thing is, there are lots of inexpensive, non-subscription treadmills on Amazon.com & Walmart.com. Yet, tons of people choose to buy the $3,000+ Peloton treadmill with $40/month subscription, which also allows the company to remotely brick your treadmill whenever they want.

Yes, you can use a physical burner phone, purchased from your local convenience store. But I prefer to use an online service/app (Google Voice, Skype Online Number, Burner App, etc). This is because a physical prepaid phone purchased from a convenience store might not work overseas, while an online service/app will work anywhere in the world, wherever you have internet access via laptop or smartphone. Plus, a physical burner phone is extra clutter, takes up limited pocket space when walking around a city, is an extra thing to charge, the battery will eventually die after a few years, etc. Keep in mind, if you want to maintain your Telegram account for the long-term, you should maintain control over your 2nd phone number. Telegram accounts are tied to phone numbers. If you "burn" your burner phone number, it will create problems later if you want to sync up your Telegram account on new devices, etc.
