You can always buy second hand. That way your money doesn't go to NVIDIA.

I heard Robert Barnes say something interesting about this today. I believe it was something like, if what they did would have resulted in 5 years in prison if it was done by a person, then charge them 5% of their assets.

On Android you can install NoScript and uBlock which are more important, the ability to hide and block hover windows trumps anything Brave can do.

People have this knee jerk reaction that Brave is better, despite Firefox being more customizable and controllable (especially on mobile version). They really think they are teaching Mozilla a lesson by not using their free browser lol, even if it's technically superior and they are shooting themselves in the foot, they don't give a fuck as long as they get to feel like they pwned the libs

Yes, I have blocked auto updates. I installed a Pi Hole and blocked all of Microsoft's domains that are used for sending the updates, so the automatic updating program can't connect to them.

Comment on: Why use old computers and operating systems?
I think it's just due to inertia and lack of funding.
At my work the primary system we use is a terminal program that dates back to the 80s. Some of the record keeping software Windows 3.0 based.
They are just too cheap and stubborn to replace it. It's for the same reason they wouldn't replace the nasty carpet and equipment in the office that dated back to the early 90s. In that case the building owner was going to pay but they didnt want us to have work downtime required to have all the stuff replace.

It does not neccesarily help with that part. But it would help with the nonresponsive (or slow to respond) screen and speed up the process generally.
Perhaps to solve the other issue, the phone could automatically zoom in to an area so you can have a bigger cursor that is easier to control.

I paid 800 bucks for this phone. I own it and it should be up to me if I want to update it at all. And they only let you delay the update so long.
Updates are as likely to break things as they are to fix them. And they never explain what they are doing when they update, other than vague explanations. I should know what they are doing to my property and be the one to decide if I want it done.

Comment on: NVCleanstall lets you customize the NVIDIA GeForce Driver package by removing components that you don't need (or want). This not only keeps things tidy, but also lowers disk usage and memory footprint. Unlike the NVIDIA custom installation, you can unselect packages like "Stereo 3D Glasses", "USB-C", Notebook Optimizations or Telemetry from the NVIDIA drivers.
I'm not sure. I didn't get that warning. I just know that it pretty much eliminated the constant telemetry NVIDIA was sending.

Comment on: VOAT IS DEAD - Reddit Clone FAILED
When Voat sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing racists. They’re bringing trolls. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.
But I speak to admins and they tell us what we’re getting. And it only makes common sense. It only makes common sense. They’re sending us not the right people.
It’s coming from more than Voat. It’s coming from all over the internet, and it’s coming probably— probably— from Reddit. But we don’t know. Because we have no protection and we have no competence, we don’t know what’s happening. And it’s got to stop and it’s got to stop fast.
