They’re planning to release schematics under an NDA. Louis Rossmann spoke to them and said that he can’t reveal the details but the reasons they have are valid.

If we get any videos of games running on it before December then it’s on these fools for thinking it’s the same as a full tower PC.

Comment on: Rumour: Low end GPU market will disappear and this guy has a good theory as to why it may happen.
> This also means that graphics card manufacturers can focus on making better mid-tier or higher graphics card than constantly churning out dirt cheap low end card that I'm sceptical of how many people buy anyway.
It’s a silicon lottery; when hardware is produced some is damaged and that gets turned into lower end cards, silicon which is near perfect gets put into the higher end models, naturally they will always have to produce low end cards.
Maybe this problem will be resolved or the bad parts get repurposed somehow idk. As we approach the hardware limits, it’s becoming more apparent that software is holding us back, just yesterday I came across [this video](https://youtu.be/iPwDB0s-lDQ) which shows a RX580 coming close to GTX1070 in performance after a year of driver updates 🤯
Not sure if the drivers were specifically made for that card, maybe every GPU within a range has the same drivers. If so we could see performance increases across the board, with the bigger impact on low end hardware because someone with the best GPU isn’t going to notice a few more frames.
Steam hardware stats show that most people have low and mid tier cards and high end is always a minority. I remember the 480 and 1060 were very popular with many people still having them, they still appear on the steam hardware stats with decent numbers.

If he makes a claim and provides sources then of course I believe him.
>If modular laptops were viable, we would have had them 20 years ago.
Modular phones and other tech have been tried and failed because it’s niche, I’m aware of this but I have hope that it finally takes off.
> Rossman’s shop is one of the unauthorized shops that doesn’t tell you how many devices become unrepairable
I’ve yet to see anything which suggests his customers are unsatisfied.
>I’ve done component level repair on TVs and sound equipment so I know what this business is about.
You’re telling me that YOU have done component level repair, a guy who just made claims earlier that you need a Microsoft account to purchase a laptop despite being told numerous times that you don’t, the same guy who has been doubling down in every reply btw.
> outcompeted by authorized repair shops
They only have access to screens and batteries, which is the same official parts repairs that Louis can perform. Except random people send him parts from factories and schematics because of his channel, non of which the smaller “authorised” or any repair shops for that matter have access to.
Apple restricts their chip manufacturers from selling to anyone but them.

>Also, Louis Rossman is a huckster that wouldn’t agree to Apple’s repair shop terms so he makes videos talking shit about his failed repair shop and makes no mention of the dozens of other shops that have no problems getting Apple parts and are cheaper than Apple factory repair.
That was a complete lie and I regret wasting time speaking to you. From the start you have made false claims and doubled down, despite being proven wrong multiple times, now you claim my source has a failed repair shop when he employs 10+ people and survived through the pandemic despite New York City trying to screw him over constantly.
>makes no mention of the dozens of other shops that have no problems getting Apple parts and are cheaper than Apple factory repair.
Again, a complete lie. Apple tells the manufacturers not to sell chips to anyone but them, I urge you to watch that video and inform yourself before spouting more bs.
"A huckster is anyone who sells something or serves biased interests, using pushy or showy tactics."
God forbid someone advocates for something that benefits all of us. I wont complain about the poison in our village well because fixing it would benefit me too!

>Yeah, and pretty much every one of them is cheaper.
But can any of them be repaired like framework? Are they modular? Can i plug in dongles that fit in flush with the housing for more features? The answer to all of these is no.
>Hardly. There are tons of authorized repair shops that are cheaper than apple.
Please inform yourself https://youtu.be/0rCUF-V1esM
>That’s the same for any device, only you paid way more to be in that same boat.
Again wrong. Schematics are notoriously hard to get a hold of and you have to work out many things for yourself as the manufacturer does not want you repairing it.
>I don’t know where you get the notion that you don’t own other devices.
Because breaking internals on any Apple product means you have to replace the entire part (if a **single** charging chip breaks they (Apple) replace the **entire motherboard**) at which point its not so insane to buya whole new one or the newer model instead.
>you can trade your devices in and they hold value
framework will have an official marketplace where you can do exactly that.

>You’re paying for a laptop that only one company makes parts for and you’re dependent on them for all future support and upgrades.
So like with every other laptop?
>At least with Apple, if you have AppleCare, you can take it to any service center.
Wait, you mean if I break my **Apple** MacBook, I can take it to any **Apple** store *only*? When you compare things you have to say how one is better than the other, not make claims how it isn't any different.
>What will you do if this company folds due to poor sales and you need to replace one of the components that only they sell?
Like what? Their schematics will be available to repair shops (meaning not shops with framework written on the outside) and these places will be able to order chips from suppliers.
I would gladly pay a premium if it meant I own the hardware and don't lease/ rent it from the manufacturer and if the rest of the parts are perfectly serviceable I can just upgrade the mainboard every 4 years to keep up.

> You understand that if it ships with windows, then you pay the licensing fee whether you use it or not? If they don’t offer a version without windows and lower the price accordingly, you’re throwing money away.
You can get it without any OS preinstalled just select the DIY version.

>it’s a middling laptop with MBP prices.
You cannot easily repair a MacBook, a lot of isn’t reparable **at all**, with the Framework laptop you pay a premium for repairability.
>There are plenty of windows laptops that will eat that one’s lunch on price at the same performance and if I’m paying a premium, I should get to choose if I have a $100-$200 dollar license attached.
They will release more mainboards with different specs such as CPU (chances of getting an AMD rather than Intel) later down the line, all without the user needing to buy a new housing, just switch out the internals.

That's due to a licensing issue; Netflix only has these shows/ films for a while until it runs out, after that they must fork over more money and sometimes the cost outweighs the benefit because the content isn't so popular. That's why they have focused so much on creating their own Originals shows because its content that belongs to them.

>It cost Apple billions to develop, to get it to market, and to maintain it
Oh no somebody think about the trillion dollar company! The people working on Xcode get paid regardless, likewise if I pirate a film, the people working on the set which helped to create it don't get paid more or less. Its funny how Virtual Studio, IntelliJ Idea, Eclipse etc is completely free yet I don't see their maintainers living under bridges and eating from dustbins.
If I create an app and make it free, I still pay $100 a year to have it hosted on App Store, also every app has the exact same fees despite some getting more downloads than others. Hosting an app which gets a few downloads is dirt cheap, I could even use GitHub to host the file. Why can't we sideload? Lastly, you don't pay to release software on MacOS, I wonder why hasn't Apple cried that people are bypassing fees here.
Do you want to know something even funnier? Apple cries when you avoid their fee/ tax yet they do the exact same https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-53416206

Most search engines—even supposedly “neutral” or “private” ones—don’t have their own index. They’re just façades that rely exclusively on third-parties. At Brave, we want to build our own search index, because this means independence. And independence means choice. Choice for the user to have alternatives, and choice that allows Brave to not be beholden to the policies of third parties (e.g. censorship, biases, economic interests, etc). Brave Search beta is based on an independent index, the first of its kind. However, for some queries, Brave can anonymously check our search results against third-party results, and mix them on the results page. This mixing is a means-to-an-end toward 100% independence. For full transparency and to measure Brave’s progress toward that goal, Brave provides a “Results independence” metric. This anonymous calculation shows the % of search results that come from Brave versus these third parties. Note that no matter the independence metric, your privacy will always be 100%.
Comment on: Apple argues against sideloading iPhone apps as regulatory pressure mounts
Android doesn't let you sideload until a setting is toggled, Apple can go further and require FaceID to toggle this setting AND install every app, they already do that on the App Store even with **free apps**. Retards who get hit by viruses have no one to blame but themselves, I'm sick and tired of software being cucked because the majority of bastards cannot operate an operating system designed for children.
If you're told what happens when you toggle the sideloading option within the settings app and ignore it, all blame is on you as the user; likewise you shouldn't be fucking with your car if you're retarded. Sort of related, I pirate software like a maniac and have never installed a virus on any of my machines, do you know why? Because I'm not a fucking idiot. If you use sketchy sites and download an app AND install it on a fucking iPhone there's no way you could have prevented it a million times over.
