GitLab took a stance in GamerGate, so if you care about that you'll want to use GitGud. Outside of siding against GG, they seem to be a great alternative to GitHub.

I like Atom, too, but I was looking up something to back up that I think they're backed by GitHub, when I found the following in their FAQ:

At least they tell you how to disable it, though I haven't looked into it yet as I have more pressing matters to take care of right now.
I've been becoming concerned about it. I'm not good enough with it to really put my finger on it, but their metrics, relationship to GitHub, and now this... I think I'm going to need to find an alternative. I really liked its setup, too.
