Comment on: No Code of Conduct: A Code of Conduct for Adults in Open Source Software
Oh, it's not that I think people should enforce civility. It's just that on one hand the Linux community is constantly pining for mainstream acceptance, and on the other is apathetic or outright hostile to newcomers. It doesn't work that way.
But, like I said, things have vastly improved over the past few years.

You're right, of course.
Comment on: No Code of Conduct: A Code of Conduct for Adults in Open Source Software
I'm referring specifically to projects that are intended for mass adoption, not more niche circles like tech/computing enthusiasts.

not all open source software is written for you
Oh, it's totally fine if you create something with a limited use in mind and don't want to waste time helping people understand it. I'm referring to projects like Linux which are ostensibly meant for everyone. If you don't want to put in the effort to help people use your software, don't whine when it's not widely adopted.

While the linux community for example may not be warm and helpful
Ya, this is the point at which they lose me. If you don't try to help people use your software, you're a shitty developer. It's one of my big problems with the Linux community, although things have improved a lot in the past few years.

I'm currently doing a JavaScript course. It's supposedly 800 hours of theory, and 800 hours of practice. I hope I can get it done more quickly, so I can move onto other stuff ASAP. I'm already through 15% 20%! of the theory in one day. :) I'm sure it'll be much more difficult once I get past the basics...

Subscribed! I also made a request to take over moderation there, seeing as the mod's been gone for 11 months. :)

I've just started to learn how to code. I won't be able to get a job as a lawyer, so I had to make a plan. I have about two hours of "programming" under my belt... Ahem.

Crazy that you can beat a Mario level in, what was it, 8 or 9 neurons?
I would have found it a lot more impressive if it had learned how to complete the level with the most points or in the fastest time. It missed out on all the fun!
Uh ... ya, this is crap. :|
For the consonant case in this question, the generator returned this regular expression:
(?<=\w\w[^_][^_]\w\w\w\w )\w|(?<=\w\w\w\w\w \w\w\w\w\w\w )\w|\w(?=\w\w[^_]\w\w\w\w\w[^_]\w[^_]\w\w\w\w)|(?<=\w[\w][A-Za-z][A-Za-z] [A-Za-z])[A-Za-z](?=[A-Za-z][A-Za-z][A-Za-z][A-Za-z][A-Za-z] (?:\w))That doesn't even select what it's supposed to select.
I tried it a second time, for this result:
\w(?=\w\w\w\w\w\w\w\w)|\w(?=\w\w(?:\w\w)++\w)which is also bullshit.
