Comment on: What does a code monkey need to learn to move past the level being a code monkey?

Where else would I go? It's not like any class or university will teach it and all of the best programmers in the world are self taught.

Comment on: Only 36% of Indian engineers can write compilable code: study

What other nationalities did a lot of cheating?

Comment on: 0 experience, getting into C++, really just not understanding why you'd want/need to use void

Void functions are pretty much for functions where you don't need to return a value.

Comment on: Data analysis of GitHub contributions reveals "unexpected" gender bias

There's no bias against women in STEM. It's simply because women are on average far less interested in going into STEM fields.

STEM jobs also need to stop treating less capable women like gold simply for having a vagina. It hurts the women who are actually good at their jobs.

Comment on: Why I won't do your coding test

If you have a portfolio that shows your ability to develop stuff that works and a potential employer asks you to take some stupid coding test, I only recommend doing it if you need the money. Then get the fuck out of there as fast as possible after finding an employer who looks at your portfolio and says "this one looks like a good prospect, they make stuff that works."

Those coding tests have about as much to do with being a developer as the FE and PE exams have to do with real engineering.

edit. some grammar and wording.

Comment on: What makes a good interface?

Being able to find and do what you want makes a good interface. If it's a puzzle to solve that's a bad thing.

Comment on: Linus Torvalds is tired indeed of "trivially obvious improvements" that are actually buggy

Trivially obvious improvements are totally cool, just not buggy ones.

If its so obvious that tons of people think of it, and think it will be an improvement, then it should be implemented.

Comment on: I created a wiki to categorize subverses. Here is the proof of concept: Programming, Development and Computing subverses. What do you think?

I just clicked the only options on each page and was lead to this thing. In reddit they are called multis, is there anything like that on voat?

Comment on: I hope one day I'll live in a country where I have freedom to write any code I like without fearing.

I don't think there's any country where you can write code to undermine the government's agenda without problems. Hopefully there are a few.
