Comment on: China will likely ban all bitcoin mining soon
Did I say I agree? For the people that do China banning crypto is good Also politics aside China isn't especially environmentally friendly in terms of, well, anything. Idk about you but I don't think sulphuric acid in the air is very good for anyone or anything.

Comment on: China will likely ban all bitcoin mining soon
BASED CHINA! This will mean: - less centralization of crypto mining in China - less pollution from Chinese power used for mining - possibly better GPU prices - China dislikes it so other countries who ban/restrict it will be seen as siding with China Everyone is happy! Crypto supporters, environmentally concerned people, consooomers and gaymers Except the people who want it gone, ironically BASED. CHINA.

Comment on: Kids can't use computers... and this is why it should worry you.
Thanks - for an article complaining about tech illiteracy, he should really get https set up. After reading this I realized how lucky I am to know how to use a computer - it just so happened that my parents let me mess around with computers. Also, the school system where I live (pl) is a damn joke when it comes to anything technology related. My younger sister has a teacher that during online school apparently takes notes in ms paint!!! There should be a destinction between knowing how to use a computer, and programs.

There is simply no good use case for technology like this. If it's going to be used for evil - why is it being developed? If it's not going to be used - why is it being developed?

Comment on: For the first time in years, someone is making a web browser from scratch
If you're making something like a blog, personal website, a cooking website, or something that's just text + some images/videos you can make it in 100% HTML+CSS, you can even make it look pretty nice. For example [based.cooking](https://based.cooking) is a cooking website that's literally just HTML and a bit of CSS, works perfectly well

Now, I really like competition in the software space, and have been quite annoyed with the dominance of chromium/WebKit.. But it really looks like they're trying to solve the wrong problem here. The issue isn't that browsers are slow, its that the WEBSITES are. On the modern internet many soydevs can't even make a simple blog without using megabytes of JavaScript or PHP, no wonder its slow! What Flow is trying to do is more like pushing the issue under the bed and letting websites become even more resource intensive. Now, I know it would probably be quite hard, but imo what we really need is a better web-oriented programming language to solve the real issue of slow websites. (Not an expert on this though, maybe there's some secret reason that js is the best lol) Edit: Yup, that's *exactly* what flow is doing. Right there, front and center. ![](https://i.imgur.com/A1c91wb.png)

Cool, for cheap laptops I think that I still prefer old used laptops though (thinkpads, dells, ect.). I use artix on my 14y/o old dell btw. No systemd=cooler, right? Lol

Oh, nice. I doubt that that's the case for most people though, if they're given to kids they're probably going to destroy it in a year. Also Chromebooks usually aren't fast by any means, so most people will probably upgrade them pretty soon after getting one.

Comment on: CMV - Chromebooks are the ultimate Good Goy computer.
I've heard some people say that chromebooks may bring a light to Linux for desktops since iirc they're technically gentoo based, but IMO they will do the exact opposite. People will start associating chrome os with cheap e-waste laptops that it usually comes with and when someone tells them that they're Linux based they'll probably start associating Linux with crappy laptops too. They're also awful since they're used in schools, which means that many children will get stuck in the google ecosystem from the beginning and will be willing to shill out for stuff like more gdrive space (since these laptops usually have like 32gb lol) Also I don't want to have an os from a company who makes most of their money from tracking and selling user data - this goes for microshit and gulag. Chromebooks are also borderline e-waste because they'll probably break and be thrown out after a year.

TFW a phone is faster than a laptop This is e-waste. If you're gonna make a slow computer *at least* put Linux on it by default so it's actually usable.

Comment on: Parler.com returns online
Well, I don't really have any hard evidence, but the whole thing seems just.. off. Idk, something in my gut tells me to stay as far away from it as possible. Also, there's the fact that from what I see pretty much all US conservatives are promoting parler exclusively, and I'm automatically suspicious of stuff that gets promoted by mainstream celebrities and politicians. Nobody needs to use Parler, and IMO they should stay clear of it for at least a month.

Comment on: Parler.com returns online
So it's basically a program, platform, ect. usually launched by some kind of government organization (think CIA, FBI, ect.) Which aims to collect information on people. A honeypot might be for example an illegal marketplace on the dark web set up to catch people who use it and turn them in to the police, or a poorly secured website used to catch hackers. IMO Parler is a honeypot, because to sign up for parler you have to give your phone number, which then makes it possible to identify you very easily by the gov. It also started becoming big around the time conservatives started being banned from social media, questioning the US election results, talking about protesting, ect. So when you put 2+2 together: + Convenient timing around the peak of protests + requiring a phone number to set up (easy ID) + choosing amazon as a host for a conservative social media platform + going offline for like over a month = quite a convenient way to get a lot of info about the population and process/store it while disguising it as a ban.

Comment on: How Many People Did Nuclear Energy Kill? Nuclear Death Toll
Love it or hate it, nuclear is the future. Its pretty much the only power source that produces clean energy on a large enough scale to sustain countries, and doesn't fluctuate. IMO the future is nuclear for grid power, solar panels limited to rooftops.

Comment on: Why Everyone Should Build Their Own PC and Stop Using Macs
They have to make a choice. People who are used to using windows just aren't used to it usually. There's one newest windows, one UI style to choose, one office suite, and one desktop environment. These things make people not used to making choices about their software. "What's the best Linux distro", " well, what do you do on your PC", "idk" This video explains it pretty well https://youtu.be/1gA9_k52FdM

Exactly. 4g is usually good enough, if anything they should just focus on making 4G incrementally faster, not this 5G/6G bs.

Comment on: The days of the Hackintosh project are numbered.
Blender is free and it's pretty much the industry standard for 3D modeling and animation software. Free software != Unprofessional software In many companies X software is chosen because "everyone else is using it too" to avoid compatibility errors. An example of this would be Windows 10 itself. It could be argued that a noob friendly distro like mint would be better for basic office work along with libre office because it's cheaper (free), way more lightweight so less money can be spent on office PCs, and updates aren't such a pain in the ass. Stable, efficient, and cheaper. Sadly pretty much no one uses Linux in corporations, so nobody chooses it, because muh standard

>Or learn Linux and live with the pain of not having enterprise-grade software available on your platform. If you mean Adobe products then, kinda? But there are plenty of also professional alternatives such as davinci resolve, gimp, ect. With a few simple changes to ones workflow it's really quite easy to be as efficient or even more efficient than on M$ or macos without sacrificing much. Also, most of the alternatives are free :P
