The DSM had homosexuality as a mental illness until the 1970's. As a whole it has it's share of issues. An example is the threshold for binge eating.
* The binge eating occurs, on average, at least once a week for three months.
Someone who may cycle on and off of binging by definition would qualify as having an eating disorder.
