Comment on: MicroMono - Develop your application monolithicly but deploy it as a microservice
Looks interesting.
Too many buzzwords though, that is one part about the js ecosystem I can't stand.
Comment on: Where should I migrate my projects to (from Github)?
It's the axillary services like issue tracking, wiki hosting and pull requests that are desirable.
Someone should make a 0 config git daemon setup with port forwarding and remote repo management.
Comment on: Where should I migrate my projects to (from Github)?
There needs to be a movement to re-decentralize git, it's kinda crazy that these git repo hosts have become such a huge point of centralization.
Comment on: Distributed open source discussion site like voat?
On the topic of usenet I have been working on an nntp(ish) based forum/pastebin/imageboard for a while.
It's still in a primordial soup state but there's 2 nodes
http://i2p.rocks/nntpchan/ ( run by me )
and
http://4sjrmga5qaqxposhuwriwl7x6qgzonwddof55fkeqpyw475mugdq.b32.i2p/ (run by someone else)

Comment on: Firefox 41 will use less memory when running AdBlock Plus
what argument would they use to argue that NOT loading specific resources on web pages should be illegal? what about the ad block dnsbl? should opt in dnsbl be illegal? that would make every AV under the sun also illegal.
Comment on: Firefox 41 will use less memory when running AdBlock Plus
advertisers are making more and more intrusive ads and ad blockers are getting more and more hardened.
It's funny how the ad block arms race is a thing at all.
Comment on: What are you working on?
After discovering std::future is a thing in C++ 11 I now have a desire to bang out a rehash of freenet that uses gnunet's r5n kademlia dht and uses bittorrent wire protocol (same reasoning as Tor uses for using tls lookalike).
Sometimes I wonder if there will be a day where darknets aren't a niche...
Comment on: The Web is getting its bytecode: WebAssembly
This is truely, the DUMBEST idea in the history of computing.
Now your webapp can be affected by the low level memory bugs that exist when you program in C, what a wonderful idea, get rid of the high level abstractions that allow programmers to be more productive.
As an added bonus it closes the openness of the web that a plaintext scripting language forces.
Would you be willing to allow someone like Fred from 8ch.net who has mobs of people that get offended by the users of the site he runs of which he develops the software for?
