Comment on: Brave Search Now Available in Beta as Privacy-Protecting Search Engine Alternative to Google
[Duck Duck Go](https://duckduckgo.com) is also a solid alternative to Google search.

Comment on: It looks like Signal isn't as open source as you thought it was anymore
It also has multiple releases this year. I have no clue what OP's article is on about. The very first claim in the article is demonstrably false using the link provided in the article.

Comment on: Italy's antitrust fines Apple 10 million euros for misleading commercial practices | Reuters
There are so many shitty things Apple does. Seems real dumb to fine them over marking their phones (accurately) as water resistant. They even list the water resistance rating in the phone spec-sheets.... Edit: Though it is possible they had an ad that showed it being subjected to water amounts that it isn't speced for.

Comment on: AMD vs. Intel for data analysis, Matlab
You have an extremely recent CPU, so I wouldn't personally suggest upgrading yet. However, I believe those applications gain from multi-threading, no? If so, there are certainly a number of AMD CPUs which perform significantly better in such workloads. A 5800X or 5900X would be worth looking at for this application. Comment on: AMD Ryzen 5000 Announced - 7nm Zen 3 CPUs, Up To 16 Cores, 4.9 Ghz, $799 US
This should put them solidly ahead of Intel processors for both single-core performance and multi-core performance. Intel isn't set to release any new processors until Q1 next year. And those processors are reportedly still 14nm, so it is unlikely Intel will be able to make more than incremental gains on their prior generation. ------ It is nice seeing AMD bring such strong contenders to the table. Intel got lazy for several generations and are now paying for it. The extra competition is great for anybody looking to buy parts.

Comment on: Windows 10 Control Panel gets another nail in its coffin
The Settings screen just takes away options and adds padding everywhere. You can’t even open two copies of it at once. Why would I want a tablet interface on my desktop?
